Opened in April of 2013, Kaiser Permanente’s South Baltimore County Corner Medical Center not only provides convenience by making it easier for Kaiser Permanente members to access our top-notch care and 21st century technology, but also represents critical job growth. This new facility, which offers members a broad array of services including specialty and primary care, is a tangible example of what makes Kaiser Permanente a better place to work—and receive care.

Employing more than 330 physicians and staff, this new four-story building medical center created 175 new jobs in the Baltimore area. The facility boasts more than 25 medical specialties, including several new services for Kaiser Permanente members in Baltimore, such as an ambulatory surgery center and post-anesthesia care unit, endoscopy unit featuring two gastrointestinal procedure suites, an eye procedure suite, pain management, and nuclear medicine (non-cardiac).

Designed with the member in mind, medical center exam rooms are fully wired with Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect®, the most advanced electronic medical record system available today, helping clinicians provide outstanding care while maximizing patient safety.

In this role, you will examine patients having a full range of visual problems, diagnose visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies, and prescribe treatment as licensed and credited. Qualified candidates will have graduated from an accredited school of optometry with one year of experience or successful completion of accredited optometry residency program. Also requires a license in good standing in the State of Maryland, District of Columbia, or Virginia and a National Provider Identification card.

In this role, you will perform initial work-up and specialized tests for optometry patients as well as assist optometrists with clinical tasks as directed by the optometrist. Qualified candidates will have one year of experience doing patient work-up's to include visual acuities, manual and automated lensometry, auto-refraction, noncontact tonometry, and knowledge of contact lenses including the teaching of insertion and removal classes or completion of interdepartmental training program emphasizing above skills developed by the Optometry department. Qualified candidates will also have one of the following certifications: Contact Lens Dispenser (US-CLD), National Contact Lens Examiners Certification, Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (US-COA, CPOA, CPOT), National Para-Optometric (US-CPO), or completion of any Optometricc Assistant Program of studies, completion of the Self-Study Para-Optometric Assistant Course, Ophthalmic Medical Assisting - Independent Study Course, or any comparable certification or Optometric or Ophthalmic course completion required within six months from date of hire.


Ophthalmology Technician

In this role, you will perform the initial work-up and specialized examinations of the eye as directed by Ophthalmologist. You will also assist the Ophthalmologist with clinical examination and surgical procedures as directed. Qualified candidates will have three years of experience as a Ophthalmology Assistant II and will be certified as an Ophthalmology Technician by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology. A high school diploma or GED is required as well as a formal course in Ophthalmology.
