California's largest nonprofit health plan, Kaiser Permanente Northern California currently
serves approximately 3.3 million members at 21 medical centers and 160 medical offices across the region.
Offering a unique blend of expert care, dynamic leadership, and innovative technology, Kaiser Permanente
Northern California is known for its focus on quality and excellence.
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) released the results from its 2014/2015 survey and once
again Kaiser Permanente Northern California scored in the top echelon for overall quality and service compared with more than 1,000 other health plans in the nation.
Out of nearly 500 commercial health plans rated by NCQA, we were 1 of only 11 in the country to receive the highest possible rating of 5, on a scale of 1-5.
In addition, our region’s Medicare program was 1 of only 9 plans to receive the 5 rating, out of almost 400 Medicare plans across the country rated by NCQA.
This resulted in our region being 1 of only 2 health plans in the nation to be rated in the top 10 in both categories.
California Ranks KP Highest on Quality Report Card
For the eighth consecutive year, Kaiser Permanente is the only health plan in California to earn a four-star rating — the highest possible — for overall quality of care in the annual Healthcare Quality Report Card from California's Office of the Patient Advocate (OPA).
While we are so pleased with these results,
they represent far more than the national recognition they bring: They reflect our success in preventing disease, saving lives, and helping patients avoid complications
from chronic illness — and that is what it's all about!
Living in Northern California
When you think of Northern California, you might picture the scenic Golden Gate Bridge,

From the cosmopolitan to the countryside, you'll find a range of landscapes, climates, communities, and
scenery to suit your needs and your lifestyle. Whether you dream of sailing the bay or surfing the waves,
snowboarding the Sierras or hiking Yosemite, attending the opera or strolling the vineyards, you'll discover
