Essential Functions:
- Contributing to a designated project or initiative to meet a KP business objective.
- Report development and analytics.
- Project management - planning, execution, and measurement.
- Learning new applications needed to complete assignments or support the execution of business objectives.
- Job shadowing in other functional areas.
- Performing additional duties as required.


Department Profile:
The cyber threat intelligence team is responsible for analyzing all available threat data, assessing the possible impact on Kaiser Permanente and actioning that intelligence to determine which mitigations or controls can assist in preventing any attacks.

Internship Project:
The primary purpose of this position to help collect, analyze and disseminate cyber intelligence impacting Kaiser Permanente and the healthcare industry. The cyber threat analyst will conduct all-source analysis and adversary targeting to identify, monitor, assess and investigate the threat posed by cyber actors. This role will analyze intelligence with an emphasis on the production of operational intelligence products to drive Kaisers security posture, assess exposure, identify controls or mitigations and better inform leaderships awareness of ongoing cyber threat activity.


Basic Qualifications:
Experience

- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree or have graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university within the last year.
License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:
- Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

- 3.0 GPA or above
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.


Desired Skill Set:
- Collects, assesses and analyzes intelligence reports from multiple sources and disciplines
- Review all log sources in Splunk to determine possible malicious activity
- Synthesizes and places intelligence information into context; draws insights about the possible implications
- Communicates tactical and strategic threat information to business leaders to assist them in making cyber risk decisions and to mitigate threats
