Senior Financial Analyst-Medical Operations Finance

The Senior Financial Analyst - Medical Operations Finance is responsible for the development and maintenance of reporting and analytics infrastructure, modeling (forecasts, budgets, strategic plans), analyzing and reporting financial and operational results, developing business cases, and planning activities. Supports performance management of Medical Operations including; medical office (MOB), lab, pharmacy, radiology and other areas across the continuum of care.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains reporting used for ongoing operational initiatives in the Region.
  • Works in partnership with key stakeholders to develop ad-hoc data analysis to support operational improvement strategies.
  • Queries and analyzes operational and claims data from various sources.
  • Track and report performance of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators: Financial/Operational).
  • Track and analyze medical operations cost trends and recommend cost containment strategies.
  • Monitor medical operations staffing position control changes.
  • Assists with preparation of annual plan/budget, forecast(s), and multi-year plans taking into account changes in tactical and strategic plans, operations, contract, trends, etc.
  • Identifies, analyzes and tracks trends that impact financial performance (e.g., new/changed product offerings, utilization and operations). Works with key constituent teams to identify actionable solutions.
  • Provides financial/analytical support to key constituents throughout the organization.
  • Prepares business cases including financial, operational and economic analysis. Identifies and evaluates investments using internal rate of return, discounted cash flow, net present value payback, sensitivity and breakeven analysis. Challenges key assumptions.
  • Leads analytical review (6 months to 2 years post implementation) of major projects to assess progress towards achieving stated results.

  • Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum three (3) years of financial analytical or related experience.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, science or related field.

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and teamwork abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage goals through collaboration.
  • Must be a self-starter and have excellent follow through skills.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities.
  • Detail oriented.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in healthcare business operations.
  • Master's degree in accounting, finance, science or related field.
  • Knowledge of clinical data analytics and statistical methodologies for complex analyses.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical environment.
  • Robust visualization skills and ability to organize data in meaningful and actionable ways.
  • Literacy of SQL, Tableau, or other relational/hierarchical database tools.
