Manages team members that provide support to Revenue Cycle for analytics, business application support, project management and training needs. Maintains Revenue Cycle applications, analyzes end to end revenue cycle processes, and oversees and ensures the accuracy and integrity of Kaiser Permanente's revenue cycle data. Recommends modifications to established practices and procedures or system functionality and implements as needed to support revenue cycle. Coordinates with managers, medical group, senior leadership and other clients to improve performance and address issues. Leads development and implantation of Revenue Cycle reporting and analytics. Manages and influences large, complex projects or programs with regional (or multi-regional) impact and scope. Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity. Maintains knowledge of and assures departmental compliance with Kaiser Permanente's Principles of Responsibility and policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Responds appropriately to observed fraud or abuse.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Manages day to day activities of the Revenue Cycle Support & Analytics employees. Develops and retains a competent and professional staff; hires, orients, trains, and supervises team members. Encourages and fosters a team environment and ensures that the team effectively shares responsibilities and accountabilities.
  • Pursues professional growth and provides developmental opportunities for others by soliciting and acting on performance feedback; building collaborative, cross-functional relationships; training and developing talent for growth opportunities; delegating tasks and decisions; fostering open dialogue amongst team members; supporting execution of performance management guidelines and expectations; and working closely with employees to set goals and provide open feedback and coaching to drive performance improvement.
  • Works closely with teams that configure Revenue Cycle applications in the electronic medical record ensuring implementation of new and existing functionality support revenue cycle processes and accurate, complete data flow. Provides feedback and recommendations on new system functionality, collaborative changes, and proposed application or workflow changes as appropriate.
  • Compiles and designs training materials for a cross-functional, continuous learning environment. Collaborates with other departments to develop education programs that remain current and meet the needs of our staff and members.
  • Directs design and development of reporting and analytics solutions relating to Revenue Cycle data completeness and accuracy, performance, and operational outcomes.
  • Coordinates with other key regional and national departments to obtain information, communicate results, and participate on key initiatives.
  • Ensures timely and successful completion of projects, requests and initiatives.
  • Identifies needed resources for projects, defines and assigns major project roles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum five (5) years of business application support experience or data management and analysis experience required.
  • Education
  • Bachelor's degree in health care administration, computer science, science, mathematics, information technology, business administration, communications or related field required.
  • License, Certification, Registration
  • Certification in one (1) or more relevant applications in the Epic Systems software suite (such as EpicCare Ambulatory, Resolute PB, OpTime, etc).

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience leading or supervising others.
  • Minimum five (5) years of systems or analytics experience in healthcare.
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience leading project teams.
  • Advanced understanding of data flow in the Epic suite of applications.
  • Knowledge of health care coding and billing.
