Description:

Coordinate the appropriate placement and/or transfer of patients into applicable facilities according to the services required and coverage criteria. Includes, but not limited to, scheduling patient appointments, faxing necessary medical records to Admissions, obtaining physician orders, placing authorization of services, coordinating and communicating placement with member and/or family, physicians and other care staff, and documenting and updating pertinent data in EPIC.



Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for verifying coverage/benefits on each placement and placing and/or renewing authorizations as appropriate. Serve as primary contact to troubleshoot inquiries regarding authorization and work with KP Claims to verify services without an authorization or lapses in authorization.
  • Provide support to physicians and care team and serve as liaison as appropriate. Coordinate completion of regulatory documents and assist with transmission of pertinent medical records.
  • Data entry/updates to EPIC and databases; assist with scanning and emailing of Disability, FMLA or other documents to Medical records and produce and distribute reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. May require travel to service locations throughout the region as needed to complete assigned tasks.

  • Basic Qualifications:

    Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of administrative or program support experience
    Education

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
    License, Certification, Registration

    Additional Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of PC applications, word processing, and spreadsheet and other database applications
  • Excellent customer relations skills and communication skills with multiples groups, including members, clinicians, care management team, dialysis providers.
  • Willingness to be a team player in accomplishing own tasks and assisting others in accomplishing theirs
  • Ability to maximize available resources
  • Ability to give and receive instructions
  • Working knowledge of telephone triage procedures
  • Ability to use phone systems and general and specialized office equipment
  • Ability to focus attention and complete critical tasks despite frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational and prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to transfer large volumes of information with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze accurately, problem-solve, and make appropriate decisions.
  • Typing 30-40 WPM.
  • Ability to travel to locations throughout the service district


    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience and proficiency working in a health care environment with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians and nurses
  • Experience working with assignment specific patient population
  • Familiarity with national and local health care organizations
  • Experience in health insurance claims, including knowledge of patient coverage area and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of KP customer service perspective and how to communicate with persons under stress

  • Associate's degree or higher in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Public Health or related field
