This position will be responsible for the development of new growth opportunities for the Medicare lines of business to drive short-term and long-term profitable growth on a regional basis. The purpose is to grow membership and revenue by uncovering, developing, and maintaining relationships and opportunities with key community organizations, associations, and individuals to raise awareness and generate interest in Kaiser Permanente and its Medicare plans. This role will work closely and collaboratively with field sales and market leadership to develop and implement appropriate prospecting and lead development strategies (with a heavy focus on grassroots and community-based work). This position is responsible for developing new business development opportunities to support new growth opportunities, including potential enhancements to sales effectiveness as well as contributing to retention efforts, which may include internal solutions as well as external vendor solutions. Examples include: engaging with the key stakeholders and centers of influence to enhance brand reputation and generate community interest, identifying various events or opportunities across market to partake in or sponsor with the expectation and goal of lead development , and speaking to the value of Kaiser Permanente's Model of Care and mission statement to various members of the community. This position will be a contributor to the strategic planning process to ensure that business development needs are met. Conducts market and competitive analysis specific to the business development opportunities, determines fit for the Medicare lines of business.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Market and Geographic Expansion: Executes upon strategies and plans as a member of the Medicare Field sales team.

  • Accountable to develop new business opportunities by executing on strategic plans adopted by leadership.

  • Organize and manage regional resources needed to accommodate current and new markets.

  • Implement action plans to integrate market activities into existing support systems.

  • Attend and participate in market facing activities such as sponsoring community events or partnering with Centers of Influence to drive business development.

  • Use key insights into market dynamics to ensure success in meeting objectives.

  • Serve as a thought partner to various teams relative to future business opportunities.

  • Responsible for partnering with segment Line of Business teams to grow membership and to execute upon initiatives as assigned.

  • Distribution: Maintain and builds understanding of market dynamics keeping a pulse on competitor activities as well as general market trends and opportunities.

  • Develop new business development opportunities for Medicare sales.

Salary Scale: 

$31.73- $37.31

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in health insurance sales, business development, or healthcare marketing.
  • Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or sales OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • License, Certification, Registration
  • Colorado Insurance License required within 90 day probationary period.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Additional Requirements:
  • Continuing education as required by Colorado Department of Insurance.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive results through various distribution channels.
  • Demonstrated track record of consistent sales quota achievement.
  • Proven ability to work with decision makers in large corporations and consulting firms.
  • Demonstrated application of sales consulting skills with decision makers.
  • Demonstrate ability to field underwrite potential prospects.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years' experience in Medicare sales, business development, or local marketing.
  • Bilingual - English/Spanish sales.
