Specialty Pharmacy Business Strategy Leader

Manages strategic planning activities, analytic and operations support functions for a multi-region business unit / service line. Provides leadership to the development and implementation of macro- and micro-level business strategies, that support achievement of business unit / service line objectives related to product development and financial performance. Ensures success of business strategies by developing and implementing appropriate monitoring and reporting tools and training / communication activities within and outside the business unit / service line. Ensures business unit / service line is a proactive leader in the industry through internal and external monitoring and benchmarking and constant updating of business strategies to reflect current and anticipated market conditions. Leads team to provide analytic support to functional leaders within the business line. On a national level leads data capture, integration and the development of system solutions to monitor performance metrics in support of operational needs and business strategies across the Program. Leads the development and performance of processes to capture national marketing programs' expense and recharge to all regions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the following critical functions within the business unit: strategic planning, analytic support, business systems management, and management of operations support functions.

  • On a national level, responsible for the development, capture and analysis of business metrics and the development and management of systems to support that work.

  • Strategic Planning: day to day management of the business line strategy team: Identifies strategic issues, structures and facilitates appropriate processes to develop, implement, monitor and continuously update business strategies.

  • Manages strategy processes at the macro level, e.g. product and service market positioning for the business unit, and at the micro level, e.g. strategies for a service area or regional operations support function to support product and service market positioning.

  • Provides leadership to the development and implementation of performance metrics, goals, training, communication and operational processes in support of business strategies across the business unit / service line.

  • Develops and maintains a business line-wide reporting system that routinely measures key indicator of success.

  • Management and updating of Active Strategy tools.

  • Provides analytical support related to various business line initiatives, lead distribution and sales management for the business line and others as needed.

  • Leads the development of the business unit's annual operating and capital budget processes to ensure alignment of financial support with business strategies.

  • Liaison to Health Plan on benefit design, product development, and execution.

  • Provide specialty market analysis and evaluation of new opportunities to maximize value to customers on an ongoing basis.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in leadership position(s) affording broad exposure to specialty pharmacy business strategies and operational imperatives relevant to the business unit / service line objectives.
  • Education
  • Pharmacy degree Required
  • License, Certification, Registration
  • Valid Registered Pharmacist License required

  • Additional Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in project/process management, group facilitation and strategic meeting process.
  • Demonstrated competencies in strategic and tactical/operational thinking, interpersonal skills and leading teams.
  • Proven track record in managing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy contract administration and delivering financial value
  • Ability to work effectively with senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated skills in both verbal and written communication including presentations.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor-Management Partnership environment.
