The VP, Pharmacy Technology leads the development and implementation of strategic systems for Pharmacy Applications that enable the achievement of business strategic and tactical plans. This position is responsible for a set of applications and capabilities supporting key business functions and stakeholders. Responsible for driving the selection and implementation of the next generation of KP Pharmacy systems company-wide in concert with business strategy as defined by National Pharmacy. This position is responsible for facilitating governance and overseeing Pharmacy Systems development and implementation across the enterprise. S/he will oversee work involving approximately 150+ staff, which includes direct and indirect reports and working with National Pharmacy executives to technology enable business strategies. This position must provide the leadership and creativity to build and manage a highly effective Pharmacy Systems capability across the enterprise. This responsibility includes working closely with the Chief Information Officer, Enterprise Architecture, IT Operations, Technology Risk Officer, Chief Digital Officer, Chief Financial Officers, National Pharmacy leaders, Regional Information Officers and CDTS Portfolio and Shared Service Leaders. This position ensures effective design development, implementation and support of Pharmacy systems that facilitate the development and the design and implementation of new products and solutions for Kaiser Permanente. To be successful in this environment, this position will need to combine both technical and social intelligence, creativity and innovation. The incumbent must be able to coordinate and communicate technical subjects to both IT and Pharmacy business partners. The individual will be required to operate under a high degree of autonomy across the enterprise and must be able to demonstrate the ability to influence (vs. control) outcomes favorably to deliver results. This position has a multi-million dollar investment budget and a staff located in multiple sites on the east and west coasts. The position also works with multiple vendors and global teams.

Essential Responsibilities:
-  This position has end-to-end management and delivery responsibility for a set of pharmacy applications supporting key business functions. This includes but is not limited to an Outpatient Pharmacy System that supports over 450 Kaiser Business operations, Acute Care Hospital Pharmacy Systems, and a Home Infusion Pharmacy System.
-  This individual will serve as the pharmacy systems point of engagement for delivery of Pharmacy Care in across the IT organization. The areas of focus are large Pharmacy applications, assessment, and implementation and systems consolidations. The individual will need to work closely with others in IT and various business partners to engage and oversee a complex portfolio of systems.
-  This position will also be responsible for leading implementations and development of other Pharmacy systems, such as but not limited to: Central Refill/Mail Order Software, utilization of perpetual inventory systems in pharmacies as well as the warehouse, Warehouse Management Systems, Distribution and Material Services and recommendation for productivity and quality improvements related to local automation in pharmacies. This position will also need to coordinate with KP HealthConnect, OneLink, and other large system owners that integrate with Pharmacy systems.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
-  Minimum twelve (12) years of progressive IT Pharmacy solutions (or related clinical ancillary areas) experience in roles of increasing responsibility, expertise in IT applications development, integration, delivery, and maintenance experience in a multi-regional or national environment is required.
Education
-  Bachelor-s degree in engineering, computer science or related field with a Master-s level graduate degree preferred.
License, Certification, Registration
-  N/A.


Additional Requirements:
-  A strong and proven IT business leader who understands and leads large-scale Pharmacy Systems technology applications for driving real business value is preferred. Candidates who have large scale systems experience in clinical ancillary or other large-scale application areas will be considered.
-  Must have demonstrated leadership in building and managing enterprise hardware/software integration initiatives in very large, complex IT environments.
-  Additionally, proven experience should include success in multi-disciplinary leadership, and the ability to grow and develop high performance teams that are geographically dispersed across the organization.
-  A track record of solid leadership experience and background in negotiating commitments to achieve long-term partnerships and, ultimately, results.
-  A creative conceptual solution thought leader who leads by example through strong personal leadership and conviction, possesses consensus building skills and a true team orientation, and displays good interpersonal skills. A strong team player willing to partner and engage with the other IT functional units to deliver substantive, business value-add to the operations.


Preferred Qualifications:
-  Minimum seven (7) years of leadership and budget management combined with current knowledge of technology and trends in a relevant Pharmacy or related industry all at a large scale is preferred.
-  M.B.A. preferred
