Responsible for public relations and media relations services at the area and regional levels  that promote and protect Kaiser Permanente's brand image and reputation as well as organizational goals and priorities. Works as part of a team with individuals assigned to geographic areas within the Northern California region.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Develops Public Relations and/or communication planning for major regionwide initiatives
  • Represents regional communications on local and regional work groups and integrated teams as appropriate.
  • Delivers and develops formal one on one or group media training to subject matter experts and executives.   
  • Implements measures to determine effectiveness of communications programs and create plans to improve results.
  • May supervise other PR/communications staff for the purpose of implementing specific communications projects, events, or programs within a given timeframe.

  • Secondary Functions:
    The position serves Fresno and Central Valley service areas; candidate must be located in the vicinity of these service areas and have experience with Fresno and Central Valley media markets.  Candidate must have ability to travel (automobile or reliable, flexible transportation).  Candidate must be available to work some evenings and/or weekends depending on demands of media.
    Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in corporate communications environment including planning and implementing complex communications plans and projects for a large complex organization, agency and health care background.
  • Education
  • Bacherlor's degree in public relations, journalism or communications or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A

  • Additional Requirements:
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in working effectively with senior leaders and managers in large organizations and influencing their approach to communications.
  • Demonstrated excellence in working collaboratively in a team setting.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience supervising communications staff.
