Kaiser Permanente Colorado is currently seeking a Nursing Supervisor to join our newly created Message Management team, consisting of RN's and LPN's, to be based out of our Rock Creek Medical Offices in Lafayette, CO!

This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your leadership and mentoring skills, process improvement mindset and team-building abilities to this new and exciting team!

Operating hours for this team are initially Monday - Friday from 7am - 7pm.  Working hours for the supervisor will be an 8-hour day five days per week and coverage among the supervisors will be established to ensure coverage for the overall team.  Eventually, a 4-hour Saturday shift will likely be implemented and supervisors will rotate coverage for Saturdays, generally working just once every fourth Saturday.

Although prior Message Center, Call Center or Nurse Advice Line experience is desirable, it is not required.

Responsible for assisting to ensure patient focused, quality, effective, efficient, nursing care and service behaviors of staff supporting the practices of physicians and other medical providers; assists the Manager in supervising and coordinating the activities of personnel. Partners with the physician leaders in creating a culture of commitment to patient focused service, excellent support of physician practices, innovation, compliance, ethics and integrity. Assists with and/or manages staff, projects, budgets, and other related leadership activities. Performs all responsibilities of a RN as required. Accountable for creating a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity. Maintains knowledge of and assures departmental compliance with KP's Principles of Responsibility and policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Responds appropriately to observed fraud or abuse.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • This position, knows and complies with all Kaiser Permanente quality, safety, and emergency policies and procedures. Demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice in every interaction with patients, colleagues, providers, and leadership. Ensures patient safety in the preparation and provisioning of care related to but not limited to medications, procedures, infection prevention, fall prevention, including consistent use of two patient identifiers and procedural time outs. Reports safety hazards, accidents and incidents, and unsafe working conditions promptly.
  • Performs the responsibilities of a RN, as needed.
  • Supervises, leads, role models and coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in providing excellent patient focused care and supporting physician practices through the provision of integrated, effective and innovative nursing practices and related medical services. Demonstrates and promotes exemplary service orientation to patients, members, providers, and staff.
  • Participates in interviewing and selection of assigned personnel; oversees training of personnel and ensures orientation to policies, procedures and expectations. Ensures that the training activities incorporate all applicable KP policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Manages staff, provides direction to team members, and evaluates personnel performance. This includes motivating, coaching and counseling on immediate performance issues and recommending appropriate action, disciplining and terminating in compliance with EEO/AA goals and personnel policies of the organization. Participates in issue/conflict resolution, performance improvement plans, and the discipline process. Ensures appropriate staffing schedules are achieved. Submits payroll.
  • Assesses and develops recommendations for new or revised general or nursing policies, procedures, and guidelines. Maintain current information and knowledge of all applicable Kaiser policies, local, state and federal laws and regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Position requires working with interruptions; with hazardous waste; with hands in water; and around moving equipment such as wheelchairs. May be required to lift patients using proper lifting techniques.
  • In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors and principles defined by the KP Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives. Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior and culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, and to purchasers, contracted providers and vendors.

  • Must be a graduate of a RN program that meets Colorado State Board of Nursing curriculum requirements.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing.
  • License, Certification, Registration
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Colorado.

  • BLS strongly preferred.
