Director Leadership and Organization Development

This position leads the regional organizational development function. Provides expert OD consulting to senior leaders. Gives input to shape the regional talent management & OD strategy. Responsible for developing implementation plans and the resource deployment to execute OD strategies for regional wide initiatives. Leads a team of organizational development consultants. Supports strategy and plans to gain alignment of the organizational culture for strategic regional business initiatives.  Scope of services includes: change management, strategic & business planning, organizational design & integration, group & team development, leadership development, executive coaching, culture, and climate assessment.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Organizational Effectiveness /Strategic Planning - Partners with regional and local leadership stakeholders to assess, identify and drive region-wide organizational change initiatives in alignment with the region's strategic direction. Partners with regional and local leadership to identify and implement strategies for organizational performance improvement. Ensures that organizational effectiveness and strategic planning initiatives aligns with the organizational strategic goals and objectives.
  • Change Leadership - Provide consultation and expertise to regional and local leadership on change management and process improvement efforts designed to facilitate and support the attainment of key organizational objectives and initiatives. In partnership with regional and local leadership, anticipate and plan for emerging organizational needs and requirements relative to human capital. Consult and partner with leadership to develop and implement strategies to improve organizational performance and effectiveness. Develop innovative and actionable solutions to support the delivery of overall operational excellence across the region. Develop metrics to determine effectiveness of change initiatives.
  • Leadership Development and Talent Management - Partners with regional and medical center leadership as well as with the learning and development teams to design, implement, evaluate and to spread leadership development and organizational transformation programs across the region.  Designs OD engagement and intervention plans to improve the individual, team and organizational achievements.
  • Organizational Development Leadership - Provide leadership to the organizational development consulting team. Model best in class / innovative approaches to change leadership and organizational effectiveness. Serve as a trusted internal consultant to regional and local leadership and executive teams. Effectively establish and deploy OD initiatives that drive measurable results.
  • Kaiser Permanente conducts compensation reviews of positions on a routine basis. At any time, Kaiser Permanente reserves the right to reevaluate and change job descriptions, or to change such positions from salaried to hourly pay status. Such changes are generally implemented only after notice is given to affected employees.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum ten (10) years of previous work experience consulting to complex organizations across a range of industries.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of previous work experience coaching senior level executives.
  • Education
  • Master's degree in organization development, organizational behavior or related fields.

  • Additional Requirements:
  • Expertise in behavioral sciences, organization development, leadership development, change management and culture change.
  • Knowledge of personality and social psychology, particularly in areas of motivation and change.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated political savvy and emotional intelligence.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Ph.D in organization development, organizational behavior or related fields.

    • Background in a
      healthcare environment preferred

    • Success designing
      and implementing high-impact leadership talent strategies and programs

    • Knowledgeable with
      talent management, learning, and organizational strategies

    • Ability to build
      relationships and collaboration across multiple disciplines and locations
