Director Portfolio Management - HR

Manages the relationship between the organization and its customers and drives alignment on strategy, budget, and objectives of each portfolio group to deliver the right products and programs at the right time. Manages in very complex organization(s) the efforts of direct and indirect reports, and collaborates with, provides guidance to and influences employees, clients and matrix partners. Evaluates new projects, products or programs for cost impacts, feasibility, and alignment with the HR, technology and business strategy. Evaluates project change requests and assesses change impacts to a broader portfolio of initiatives. Manages portfolio budget; performs financial planning and budgeting with stakeholders. Coordinates inter- and intra- HR, IT, and business function collaboration efforts to ensure alignment and solutioning between strategy, programs, and operations. Provides cross-functional, portfolio, product, and employee experience view for projects. Defines deliverables, timelines, activities, and resource requirements. Defines and maintains the Business Architecture which involves the principles, interactions, capabilities, value streams and processes to maximize value to customers.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Management: Defines portfolio strategy and manage multi-year roadmap for assigned customer portfolios. Supports the prioritization of enterprise-wide and cross-functional HR-related initiatives. Oversees all initiatives through the entire program or project lifecycle, from funding through implementation. Improves customer satisfaction by planning, prioritizing, and coordinating HR strategic project implementations. Manages overall the organization's portfolio budget; perform financial planning and budgeting with key stakeholders. Evaluates project change requests, assess change impacts to a broader portfolio of the organization's initiatives, and partner with the project/HR governance committee and stakeholders to determine priority and timing. Demonstrates the ability to strategically and tactically evaluate programs and initiatives as they are being considered. Collaborates with key stakeholders to manage to financial targets. Participates in post-live project activities; including evaluation of success criteria, identification of best practices, lessons learned, and strategies for future releases and deployments.

  • Business Case Development: Directs the development of comprehensive and strategic business cases with cost/benefit dimensions of proposed projects that are used at management and executive levels for funding and scope decisions. Evaluate new projects, products or programs for cost impacts and feasibility and approve projects that align with the HR and business strategy.

  • Solutioning: Leads inter- and intra- HR, IT, and business function collaboration efforts to ensure alignment and solutioning between strategy, programs, and operations. Influences cross-functional and/or cross-divisional task forces to identify and document functional requirements, workflow, information sources and system specifications. May establish cross-functional task forces. Directs the analysis of enterprise-wide or very complex client needs in project areas such as new business operating models, innovative approaches to IT solutions support, market research of emerging or available product functionality and operational readiness assessment. Selects and customizes the methodology for the analysis and definition of efficient, cost effective solutions that support client business processes and functional requirements and resource costs. Evaluates existing applications that could address client requirements and makes recommendations from complex projects. Identifies alternative uses of technologies that will enhance current or anticipated information systems and that support overall corporate and business goals that are appropriately aligned with the enterprise architecture. Identifies opportunities for solution sharing and reuse.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identifies areas for process improvement and sponsor improvement activities. Supports projects and enhancements as required.

  • HR Products: Maintains oversight of development, budget, and outcomes of the organization's portfolio of products. Provides input to Product and Business Unit leaders to prioritize workload. Assists Product Owners in the identification of requirements for applications. Provides input into new products for HR and business.

  • Customer Support: Develops and nurtures a trusted advisor relationship with the customer that focuses on the key customer needs to inform portfolio objectives and ensure successful execution. Functions as a strategic business advisor driving increased acceptance of HRDS processes and a greater sense of pride and adoption of new technology throughout the organization. Consults with customers and other KP leadership to inform and promote successful project development and implementation within the organization. Supports and provides leadership and direction to customers in consulting, planning, and deployment of a variety of solutions. Provides subject matter expertise to cross-divisional, common business areas. Communicates to others, when appropriate, current knowledge and best practices on KP and KP-IT business strategies.

  • Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum ten (10) years related experience Human Resources or consulting required,

  • Minimum five (5) years related experience managing teams required.

  • Minimum three (3) years related experience in planning and delivering technology solutions required.

  • Education

  • Bachelor-s degree in IT, data analysis, engineering, communications, business administration, human resources, computer science or related field, OR four (4) year directly required experience required.

  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • License, Certification, Registration

  • Advanced knowledge of own area of functional responsibility and working knowledge of other functions.

  • Service-oriented focus towards developing solutions that exceed expectations for internal and external customers.

  • Minimum twelve (12) years related experience Human Resources or consulting,

  • Minimum eight (8) years related experience managing teams and delegating competing business priorities.

  • Minimum five (5) years related experience in planning and delivering technology solutions.

  • Master's degree in IT, data analysis, engineering, communications, business administration, human resources, computer science or related field.
