Provides expert support and guidance to interdisciplinary
clinical operational functions in care delivery to promote performance
improvement and improved health outcomes for 12.3 million members using high
reliability science. The scope of work projects will be broad and comprehensive
and include development of performance improvement and educational tools to
support Hospital Quality, National Quality Committee and Board level priorities
to improve performance and address KP-s ability to maintain and promote health.






Provides expert support and guidance to operational level functions in care delivery and business functions to promote performance improvement and improved health outcomes (e.g., design, planning, communication, coordination, project team over-site, implementation, and monitoring, reporting, evaluation). The scope of work projects will be broad and comprehensive and include development of performance improvement capacity educational tools that will support promotion of the Hospital Quality and Care Delivery Excellence/Care Management Institute and national Quality Committee and Board level priorities to improve performance and address system ability to maintain and promote health. Key stakeholders include but are not limited to the National Executive Team, National Quality Committee, Group Presidents/Regional Presidents, Federation/EMD, KPPG, Regional leadership groups, regional and facility representatives and labor management partners. This position facilitates, directs, and leads program office and interregional activities to achieve organizational performance goals. Plans, organizes, and directs the operation of performance improvement efforts and programs and execution strategy for strategic initiatives related to performance and health as identified by the leadership of HQCDE/CMI. Advises the overall development of programs for improvement and consults with various internal and external stakeholders on execution of performance improvement initiatives including local site leaders, staff physicians, labor partners, regional and national colleagues, and senior leaders at all levels in efforts aligned with KP's quality and business strategies.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Implementation Group: Responsibilities as listed in senior principle consultant.
  • Broad and complex scope of responsibilities serving regional and national functions across organization.
  • Supervises of Sr Principle consultant team members and guides deployment against strategic priorities.
  • Serves as primary consultant to senior regional, national or business function leadership teams in establishing and managing improvement oversight and deployment plans.
  • Serves as faculty for Improvement Institute program.
  • Participates in discussion and planning with leadership team in HSP to plan and execute against strategic priorities.

  • Under the guidance of the Vice President for Quality, Safety, Risk and Experience, this position provides expert support and guidance to the highly reliable operating model of operational excellence across Kaiser Permanente. 
  • Responsible for working with Program Office and KP regional leaders and staff to determine best practices to test and spread across Kaiser Permanente. 
  • Responsible for working with OE Leaders, Program Office support staff and acceleration site teams to design systems that test and deliver best practices through education and play books to spread across regions. 
  • Acts as the program expert on High Reliability, Operational Excellence and Program Management, their components and implementation. 
  • Accountable for improvement in overall identified metrics.
  • Basic Qualifications:
    Experience
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of directly related experience.
  • Education
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • License, Certification, Registration
  • Lean six sigma master black belt.

  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in health care field preferred.
