Research Assistant, Cardiovascular Studies

Description:
Seeking a highly motivated research assistant for a characteristically administrative role to join a DOR (Division of Research) Study team and support cardiovascular studies.
Duties include:
- Completing and scheduling telephone calls to study participants as needed.
- Maintaining subject and data tracking systems.
- Demonstrating patient-centered care when assisting the study nurse with clinic visits.
- Reviewing completed forms for completeness and accuracy.
- Preparing data for electronic processing.
- Scheduling and attending study meetings; preparing meeting minutes.
- Drafting study Manuals of Procedures.
- Drafting and maintaining study records (internal reports, deadlines, study goals).
- Drafting and supporting applications to the Institutional Review Board.
- Completing administrative and research-related duties as required to assist the Principal Investigator and Project Managers.
- Maintaining and updating study website content.
Recruits and screens study participants. Conducts telephone or in-person interviews with study participants. Edits and codes questionnaire data. Prepares forms and maintains accurate records and files.

Essential Functions:
- Answers participants' questions and assists in screening, recruiting, and consenting patients. Contacts patients who do not respond to mailings. Schedules examination appointments for study participants. Conducts structured telephone or in-person interviews with study participants. Reviews questionnaires for completeness and accuracy; checks for inconsistencies; and codes open-ended questions. Prepares, mails, and processes questionnaires. Assists in tracing study participants. Prepares data for electronic processing. Keeps accurate records and files.

At any time, Kaiser Permanente reserves the right to reevaluate and change job descriptions, or to change such positions from salaried to hourly pay status. Additional Requirements:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; telephone skills required.
- Familiar with medical terminology
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.


 


Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a research/health care environment preferred.
- Previous interviewing experience preferred.
- Experience and knowledge of computer applications, such as word processing and database software, preferred.
- Associate's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Familiarity with editing/coding questionnaires preferred.
