This Senior Director role will lead communications strategy to support Kaiser Permanente's national Growth & Affordability strategic business goals.
Responsible for providing complex communications strategy, management, consultation, planning, implementation and recommended solutions for the Kaiser Permanente organization, functions, programs and projects across a broad variety of internal and external audiences (KP leaders, employees, influencers, media, members, consumers, etc.) to support organizational business strategies and to promote and protect the KP brand.
Provides oversight and/or leads communications strategies and tactics that support the growth and market strategies essential to KP's strategic plans, revenue, membership and margin goals. Managers provide strategic thinking and leadership skills that enable teams to: identify and optimize business solutions through strategic communication leadership; evaluate findings and make formal recommendations to a number of stakeholders including up to C-level KP executives; design communications strategies that optimize KP business strategies, programs and priorities; bring forth technical/content expertise (competitive intelligence, business acumen, sophisticated communications strategies, tools and techniques); mentor/review/approve team member communications recommendations and work on a variety of topics.
Incumbents would advise and/or manage team members whose work includes strategic communications leadership, planning, and tactical implementation in both day-to-day and high-risk situations. Selects, develops, evaluates, coaches, and advises personnel.
Essential Responsibilities:Major Responsibilities: it is assumed that each higher level job will be proficient in & be capable of performing the duties of the lower levels in the job family.* Partners with senior KP leadership and serves as a business and communications adviser and strategist to senior executive(s) in support of broad-reaching enterprise-wide business goals and strategies.* Applies business knowledge and communications expertise to develop and lead communications strategies that advance enterprise-wide business objectives including high-risk issues and situations.* Develops and monitors organization/business performance metrics and acts when needed.* Drives communication programs and initiatives involving multiple business areas and targeting broad-based internal and external audiences.* Engages and coordinates across executive stakeholders and subject-matter experts to ensure strategic business objectives are supported through integrated communications programs that represent stakeholder perspectives and meet business needs.* Serves as liaison with other national business units (e.g., Government Relations, Labor Relations, Legal, Compliance) to develop communications strategies and tactics that meet necessary regulations and requirements to effectively promote and protect the organization's reputation.* Sets and effectively manages communications program budgets.
ExperienceMinimum twelve (12) years of experience in PR, Communications or similar roles.Minimum four (4) years of management experience.
EducationBachelor's degree in journalism, English, public relations, business administration or related field, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

Preferred Qualifications:Seven (7) years of management experience preferred.Master's degree preferred.
