Senior Manager Leadership Programs and Talent Planning

Leads and directs the implementation and ongoing management of leadership development program.  Manages the process for needs assessment, curriculum design, and for the development and implementation of programs.  Provides management oversight for conducting gap analysis, consultation, assessment and identifying strategies to develop sustainable leadership qualities across the region.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leads and directs the development, implementation and ongoing management of a full array of leadership programs for frontline to senior leaders.

  • Ensures that leadership development courses and initiatives align with overall region-wide business strategies and imperatives.

  • Serves as a key member of the Learning & Development leadership team to provide guidance in determining goals and priorities for leadership development programs.

  • Partners with the Organizational Development function and other Talent Management leaders to assess talent & leadership gaps and priorities. Provides input and thought leadership to overall Regional leadership development strategy.

  • Leveraging external benchmarking to identify, develop and implement best in class development programming.

  • Partners with Organization Development leaders to cascade delivery of leadership development programs and initiatives.

  • Works with subject matter experts to design and deliver leadership development courses.

  • Identifies and prepares appropriate delivery liaisons (internal or external) to facilitate leadership development training programs.

  • Conducts overall and ongoing assessment and gap analysis of local leadership development needs; identifies opportunities for improvement.

  • Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in developing and leading training programs.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience managing staff.

  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree with concentration in leadership development, organization development or related field OR four (4) years' experience in a directly related field.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A

  • Additional Requirements:

  • Knowledge of organization development, change management, leadership development, organization and group dynamics, motivation theory and organization design, strategies and business planning.

  • Demonstrated expertise as strategic leader with excellent problem-solving skills, proven capability to motivate change and to galvanize action.

  • Demonstrated leadership in key behaviors such as communication, influence, team focus, change leadership, reward/recognition, cultural competence, developing others, personal development and emotional intelligence.

  • Able to hire, manage and mentor high caliber staff in a complex organization.

  • Excellent oral and written skills.

  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or MBA degree with concentration in leadership development or organization development or related area.
