Senior Tax Analyst

Description:

We currently have a career opportunity for a Senior Tax Analyst in our Controller-s Office - National Tax. The Senior Tax Analyst will be responsible for the collection of data for and preparation of Form 990s, 990Ts, business tax returns, state income tax returns and related filings, conduct research on various issues pertaining to Kaiser Permanente, and interacting with key personnel to resolve tax issues that may arise.



Prepares and completes tax returns and reports involved with federal, state, local, property, sales and/or other tax liabilities. Responsible for meeting all required deadlines. Maintains current knowledge of all tax laws affecting the company. Reviews proposals for tax implications and recommends actions that meet the business plans while managing the tax liability. Assists in tax audits. May be involved with tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.


Essential Functions:

- Responsible for preparing property tax returns for all applicable properties and California welfare exemption applications.
- Provides support for county property tax audits.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum four (4) years of tax accounting experience.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in tax accounting or related field, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
- N/A
 
Additional Requirements:
- Thorough knowledge of tax accounting policies, practices and systems.
- Complete understanding and application of tax accounting principles, concepts, practices and standards.
- Broad application of tax accounting principles, theories and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other related fields.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.



Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in related field (accounting, business Administration, economics, finance, mathematics) OR graduate degree (tax or law preferred)

- CPA or JD certification preferred

- Experience with corporate taxation (exempt organization experience preferred)

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem solving ability

- Strong teaming and project management skills

- Proficient knowledge of automated tax processing systems and Microsoft Office tools

- Experience with preparing 990's and 990T's
