Under the general supervision of the Chief Compliance Officer for the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine, the Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) will oversee the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine institutional and programmatic accreditations process in compliance with state and federal laws, regulatory agencies. The ALO will serve as a liaison between the Commission and the institution on a variety of matters, particularly during the self-study and evaluation process. In addition, the ALO will serve as the focal person on campus for the collection and dissemination of information about institutional accreditation

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Under the direction of the Chief Compliance Officer - KP School of Medicine, oversee compliance with state and federal laws, regulatory agencies, as well as institutional and programmatic accreditations.
  • Oversee the institution's internal accreditation review process.
  • Conduct quarterly internal audits of departments and programs on campus.  Facilitate external audits and provide responses to audit findings in collaboration with the School of Medicine's administration to ensure continued compliance with federal, state, and regional accreditation standards.
  • Partner with departments on campus to develop policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulatory agencies and institutional accreditors.
  • Provide consultation, expertise, and support related to accreditation and focused site-visit matters, and works with the School of Medicine's administration, staff, and faculty in preparing for comprehensive evaluations for regional and programmatic accreditation status.
  • Prepare applications and evaluation documentation to obtain and maintain regulatory and specialized accreditation at the college-level under the direction of the Chief Compliance Officer- KP School of Medicine.
  • Review affiliation agreements developed by relevant departments and assess alignment with regulatory/accreditation requirements.
  • Maintain files of all accreditation material such as institutional reports, team reports, and correspondence from institutional and programmatic accreditors. Ensure that the School of Medicine's administration, staff, faculty, and students are aware that these materials are available.
  • Receive bills for dues, fees, review, and visit expenses from institutional and programmatic accreditors and secures their prompt payment.
  • Disseminate accreditation information to the School of Medicine and respond to inquiries regarding accreditation.
  • Lead the planning and conducting of the School of Medicine's self-study in preparation for a review and/or visit from institutional and programmatic accreditors, while preparing and submitting all required institutional reports in a timely fashion.
  • Work alongside institutional and programmatic accreditors to develop and review visit schedules, as well as prepare for and manage visits.
  • Manage the School of Medicine's internal proposal process for substantive or structural changes before submission to institutional and programmatic accreditors.
  • Receive and respond to any complaints that institutional and programmatic accreditors receive about the School of Medicine.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and webinars related to accreditation and policy development.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum three (3) years of related experience in academic administration, compliance, and/or accreditation in higher education.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in planning, analysis and management in higher education.
  • Regional accreditation experience.
  • Previous experience developing affiliation agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to higher education.
  • Preference for working knowledge with regional accreditors, especially the WSCUC, and California's regulatory higher education environment.
