The Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine is
devoted first and foremost to offering an outstanding, forward-thinking medical
education.  Its curriculum is built on the three pillars of Biomedical
Science, Clinical Science, and Health Systems Science. Students will think
broadly about the ways care can be more effective for everyone and learn how to
advocate for better health in homes, school, workplaces, neighborhoods, and
society at large. The school will incorporate many of the most innovative and
effective educational practices available today and will give students the
opportunity to learn from the physicians and care teams in Kaiser Permanente-s
integrated health care system.  This approach will provide future
physicians with the knowledge and skills to play key roles in the
transformation of healthcare in our nation and help people from all backgrounds

Reporting to the Director of Student Affairs, this individual is responsible for the effective delivery of co-curricular health and well-being programs and services for students. Their primary focus is to facilitate a positive learning environment throughout Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine. The Program Manager for Health and Well-being is responsible for the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine student health and well-being program and services. This individual ensures the highest possible level of engagement, outcomes, and student satisfaction in the delivery of programs to support the mission and vision of Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with students to support the design and implementation of co-curricular health and well-being programs and services which includes program design, goals, measurement and communications. Co-curricular programming includes utilization of well-being spaces within the School's buildings as well as developing co-curricular Learning Community programming.
  • Facilitates a positive learning environment. Receive and triage concerns from students about the learning environment, both within the KPSOM and the clinical practice spaces. Ensure information sharing with students about the learning environment on a regular basis.
  • Ensures that programs and services function in an efficient and integrated manner, aligning with the functions of the various departments within the School.
  • Develops and implements systems for measuring and improving the quality of the student co-curricular health and well-being programs, including methods of incorporating feedback from students.
  • Develops and implements systems for measuring the health and well-being of students, including formal systems that ensure the privacy and confidentiality of personal health and self-care data.
  • Analyzes, interprets and reports health and well-being measures at the aggregate level (e.g., Awareness of programs and services, participation, satisfaction, health and well-being outcomes, medical school success).
  • Provides outreach well-being training to partners or appropriate departments to help with integration and alignment of efforts.
  • Partners with Offices of Medical Education, Research, and other stakeholders and offices to develop and conduct research studies leading to academic publications.
  • Represents student health and well-being on various committees and workgroups within the School.
  • Communicates progress, status, strategy, and outcomes about student health and well-being and the learning environment to school of medicine partners, stakeholders, and leadership regularly.
  • Supports the internal marketing and promotion of health and well-being programs and services to students by working with the relevant program and service owners.
  • Maintains subject matter expertise in the field of health and well-being particularly related to undergraduate medical education.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum three (3) years of work experience with the delivery and management of health promotion and wellness programs (e.g. group/community based health promotion, higher education institutions, health coaching or similar experience)
  • Education
  • Bachelor's degree in health-related field.

  • Ability to analyze complex data and draw appropriate conclusions
  • Must display and maintain a personal commitment to health and wellness
  • Excellent communications (oral and written) skills required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary for working with a diverse organization and for creating influence with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency with common office software (e.g. Word and Excel)

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) or more years related industry experience including three years of program management experience preferably in a health plan, health improvement or related environment or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Master's degree in health promotion, public health, healthcare administration or other health-related field
  • Knowledge and experience in health-behavior change
  • Knowledge of current and emerging trends impacting the delivery of health and well-being programs and services
