Description:

As of July 2016, Kaiser Foundation Health Plan (KFHP) and its related entities' total membership (for all lines of business) is approximately 8.1 million. KFHP-s total Medi-Cal membership (both directly and indirectly contracted) is approximately 681,294 including 94,000 Seniors and Persons with Disabilities (SPD) and 587,294 non-SPD. Every month, Medi-Cal team within the KP Insight - Analytic Information Management (AIM) - Master Reference and Medi-Cal, achieves remarkable benchmark in delivery of actionable insights to decision makers to improve care and strengthen KP-s financial position. The team is involved in generation of Regulatory reports required by Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and Contracted Plan Partners. Analytics and Data captured by the team is used in Capitation Rate Development Reports and in submission of Managed Care Plan-s (MCPs) provider files in ANSI X12, 274 format. Rate Development Reports provide guidelines used in setting rates for supplemental maternity payment, risk adjustments, and capitation rates. MCPs Provider files help DHCS ensure the accuracy of its provider data and the adequacy of MCP provider networks.

Intern Project Description:

Intern will be working in professional environment on Risk Exposure Oversight (REO) Project that involves systematic validation of data to align with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) requirements. This enables National Compliance Office (NCO) team to submit data to CMS in the most efficient way possible

Contributing to a designated project or initiative to meet business objective. They will do so by:
- Report development, testing and analytics
- Project management - planning, execution, and measurement while using JIRA
- Data analysis, tracking of projects, updating department documents, gathering data, creating spreadsheets and taking meeting notes
- Research issues, provide input and recommendations to issues by creating required documents
- Job shadowing in other functional areas

Preferred Skills:

Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to learn quickly and produce high quality work in short periods of time
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Basic IT skills (Windows), organizational skills
- Project Management skills

- Pursuing a bachelor's degree or have graduated from an accredited university within the last year.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

Additional Requirements:
- Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
 

Preferred Qualifications:
- 3.0 GPA or above.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
