Digital Strategy & Insights (DSI) is a team within KP Digital focused on creating consumer-facing digital health experiences.  We are a diverse team of strategic, empathetic thinkers and doers, who envision and craft experiences from strategy to digital prototypes.  Knowing our business, understanding our consumers, and anchoring to our digital-first enterprise vision are at the core of our process. Our team partners with senior leadership to deliver high impact projects. We help Business Leaders, Product Managers, Engineers, UX, and other functions build amazing digital products and experiences that delight consumers.

The Strategy & Innovation practice, within DSI, co-creates actionable-strategic narratives for how digital will-deliver business and-consumer value, while-incubating and validating-early-stage ideas.  The team focuses on setting and communicating the direction for how digital will help to achieve enterprise strategies and value.The Digital Experience Strategist is accountable for all aspects of the work to facilitate and guide cross-functional teams in digital strategy formation to ensure framing, problem definition, and approach align with consumer needs, business objectives, and internal efforts. Activities will focus on discovering, shaping, and validating digital prototypes and championing a culture of innovation.   • Deep knowledge of product strategy, and how to bring ideas through a discovery effort within a cross-functional team of designers, product managers and engineers

  • Experience with conducting market, competitive, and consumer research and sharing insights or recommendations with technical and non-technical audiences, including c-level executives

  • Experience developing easy-to-digest and compelling strategic narratives/decks in PowerPoint or Keynote that articulate key problems to solve, the voice of the end-user, and how to measure success / impact

  • Strong background in verbal communications and leadership, often involving stakeholders discussions that require facilitation or presentations

In this role, you will be responsible for Experience Strategy Development:

  • Support and guide the strategic direction for digital solutions by placing members and patients at center while solving some of the top issues across health plan, care delivery and health engagement at KP 

  • Collaborate with operational, technology and clinical stakeholders to identify long-term business objectives and goals, operational challenges, and digital opportunities 

  • Work with a cross-functional product team of product managers, engineers, and experience designers to understand “big picture” problems to solve for members, patients, and consumers 

  • Work with consumer research teams to distill industry trends and opportunities into a focused set of themes that will help KP mature consumers experiences over time 

  • Apply qualitative research best practices to understand consumer needs and challenges that are reflected in our personas, member segments, and journey maps 

  • Assess competitive research and best-in-class landscape to determine digital positioning and approach 

  • Facilitate co-design sessions with KP Digital and external stakeholders to map current state member experience and related technology and operations dependencies 

  • Provide internal and external research and insights to help cross-functional product teams visualize the future state digital experience and prioritize high-level roadmap development in digital 

  • Help drive and manage prototyping and user-testing of emerging technologies and experiences in the healthcare space, by shaping research objectives and facilitating user interviews 

  • Support the development of strategic narratives and framing to influence decision-making, product strategy and roadmap prioritization  

  • Provide strategic framing around how cross-functional product teams support the enterprise strategy and goals communicated annually to the Board of Directors 

  • Work with our Governance and Business Planning team to understand the implications and risks of product discovery and delivery 

  • Advise a cross-functional product team on discovery efforts such as best practices for approaching qualitative or quantitative research 

  • Support quarterly roadmap planning materials for cross-functional product teams to communicate their strategic goals and consumer problems to solve 

  • Evangelize digital thinking to help set, clarify, and promote objectives and strategies throughout the enterprise and establish thought leadership in the marketplace 

  • Be an advocate by supporting learning events, workshops, POV development and stakeholder engagements 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Practices self-leadership and promotes learning in others by building relationships with cross-functional stakeholders; communicating information and providing advice to drive projects forward; influencing team members within assigned unit; listening and responding to, seeking, and addressing performance feedback; adapting to competing demands and new responsibilities; providing feedback to others, including upward feedback to leadership and mentoring junior team members; creating and executing plans to capitalize on strengths and improve opportunity areas; and adapting to and learning from change, difficulties, and feedback.

  • Develops requirements, or leads a team of IT consultants in the development of requirements for complex or specialized process or system solutions which may span multiple business domains by partnering with stakeholders and appropriate IT teams (for example, Solutions Delivery, Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture).

  • Leverages multiple business requirements gathering methodologies to identify business, functional, and non-functional requirements (for example, SMART) across the enterprise.

  • Leads and oversees the development and documentation of comprehensive business cases to assess the costs, benefits, ROI, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) of complex solution proposals.

  • Provides insight, guidance, and recommendations throughout the evolution of applications, systems, and/or processes to a desired future state by maintaining and leveraging a comprehensive understanding of how current processes impact business operations across the enterprise.

  • Maps current state against future state processes.

  • Defines the impact of requirements on upstream and downstream solution components.

  • Provides insight and influence to senior management and business leaders on how to integrate requirements with current systems and business processes across the enterprise.

  • Reviews, evaluates, and prioritizes value gaps and opportunities for process enhancements or efficiencies.

  • Influences solution design by providing insight and consultation at design sessions with IT teams to help translate requirements into workable business solutions.

  • Recommends and advocates for additional data and/or services needed to address key business issues related to process or solutions design.

  • Participates in evaluating third-party vendors as directed.

  • Drives continuous process improvement by leading the development, implementation, and maintenance of standardized tools, templates, and processes across the enterprise.

  • Recommends and advocates for regional and national process improvements which align with sustainable best practices, and the strategic and tactical goals of the business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS or related field and Minimum eight (8) years experience in IT consulting, business analysis, or a related field. Additional equivalent work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years experience working for a health care organization

  • Four (4) years experience working for an IT organization

  • Three (3) years experience working on projects or programs requiring the integration of cross-functional technology and/or business solutions.

  • Four (4) years experience in workflow analysis, including the use of modeling software (e.g., Visio).

  • Four (4) years in a leadership role working with project or technical teams.

  • Three (3) years experience working on cross-functional project teams

  • Four (4) years experience in business case development and analysis

  • Two (2) years experience managing vendor relationships.

  • Two (2) years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with executive leadership (e.g., Vice President level and above)

  • Five (5) years consulting experience in hospital operations.

  • Five (5) years consulting experience in clinical administration.

  • Five (5) years consulting experience in health plan administration.

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, CIS or related field

  • Certified Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) or other comparable business analyst or IT consulting certification
