Description:

The Revenue Cycle Operations Consultant II provides project management and operational performance improvement consulting leadership to small and medium projects within the end-to-end non-dues revenue cycle. The Revenue Cycle Operations Consultant II provides analytical support for these projects.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed and comprehensive project management and process improvement documents. Develop an understanding of client's business issues and needs, and apply this to suggest appropriate approaches, tools and techniques to tackle client problems. Translate client expectations into practical project objectives. Lead and oversee several projects simultaneously from conception through final implementation that are targeted toward specific revenue cycle performance improvements. Work effectively and proactive with people, customers and teams to identify performance improvement opportunities and reach practical decisions and solutions in a timely manner. Develop communication, transition, training, quality assurance and validation plans. Comply and adhere to group procedures and project management protocols to maintain consistency of service practice and uphold the group's professional branding. Ensure a professional perception founded in neatness, organization and maturity. Portray a positive image and maintain and enhance the group's reputation. Develop current & future state value-stream / process flow maps, perform process reviews and time studies, and prepare quantitative/qualitative data analysis. Schedule and prepare for meetings; including work, training, fact finding and status reporting sessions; for on location meetings or online conferencing. Prepare comprehensive project completion records and close-out documents. Anticipate project risks, weigh practical considerations and take preemptive actions to mitigate and address the possible issues; and seek input from engagement managers, stakeholders and sponsors to support the actions and resolve. Develop easy to understand frameworks to present information, ideas and solutions options with fact-based, data-driven analysis, conclusions and recommendations. Support the development of policies, procedures, work instructions and other process and operational documents. Encourage and motivate team members to achieve project and team goals. Build healthy, communicative, trusting and fun relationships with co-workers, customers, and communicate and interact with a positive and constructive attitude, promoting this attitude in others. Successfully build, lead and maintain motivated, empowered and diverse teams. This job description is not all encompassing. Performs other technical and project support.

  • Basic Qualifications:

    Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of project management, business consulting, or process improvement experience 

  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, health care administration, management engineering or other related field OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required

  • License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A


  • Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills

  • High level proficiency in MS Office products (Visio, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to manage rapidly and frequently changing priorities and thrive in an environment of ambiguity and constrained timelines.

  • Excellent organizational skills and highly accurate, factual and detail orientation

  • Self-motivated to continuously enhance and promote own professional knowledge, understanding and application of project management and process improvement supporting tools and methodologies. Ability to effectively teach, coach and mentor junior fellows and peers

  • Ability to build a healthy, communicative, trusting and fun relationship with peers and customers; and to communicate and interact with a positive attitude

  • Ability to actively listen, interpret and then type rapidly using a computer keyboard group discussions, notes, action items, decisions, and minutes

  • Able to effectively work with very difficult and highly demanding customers, sponsors, team members and peers with professional composure and demeanor


  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a consultant in a consulting group or in a consulting role

  • Experience with Revenue Cycle operations: patient financial services, registration, coding, medical records, cash posting, claims, healthcare financial systems, EPIC (KP HealthConnect) applications, etc. Experience with an integrated healthcare system. Knowledge of healthcare regulations, systems, procedures, lines of business and Project Management Certification

  • Master's degree in healthcare, business administration, or management engineering

  • Lean / Six Sigma - Black or Green Belt Certification


  • Revenue Cycle Certification

  • practices for both clinical and hospital revenue cycle operations.

  • Basic knowledge of analytical techniques pertinent to planning, finance, management engineering and medical economics. This includes forecasting, sensitivity analysis, financial analysis, decision analysis, cost-benefit/effectiveness and other economic and statistical analysis
