Sr. Communications Consultant II (Care Delivery)

Description:

Provides advanced strategic communications consultation, planning, implementation & recommended solutions to drive high impact KP programs & projects to meet internal & external organizational communication goals. Serves as a subject matter expert & provides mentoring & oversight of other communication staff for the purpose of implementing specific communication projects, events or programs w/in a given scope &/or timeframe. Oversees & coordinates a critical strategic area for the region such hospital or care delivery communications & issues Mgmt.



Essential Functions:


- Strategic communications consulting & planning:Provide strategic communications consultation & guidance to assigned internal/external stakeholders helping them articulate, develop, & clarify communication objectives & expected outcomes. Develop & execute integrated communications strategies that apply & optimize mix of communication domains & channels to effectively reach internal/external stakeholders. Synthesize & distill complex ideas into distinct message platforms. Leverage knowledge from multiple sources including Program Office, marketing, medical operations & other sources. Ensure communications activities are consistent w/the KP brand in terms of tone, manner, & messaging. Negotiate scope, budget, & objectives of projects. Advise client of budget responsibility & obtain needed approvals for project & content expenditures. Provide cost & time estimates to clients for each project. Educate & advise clients about the cost effectiveness of electronic communications & encourage the use of new media. Keep up w/new trends in communications technology, including new & social media & other web-based platforms. Implement measures to determine strategic effectiveness of communications programs & create plans to improve results.
- Content Creation, Oversight, & Execution:Ability to write across communications domains, disciplines & channels, including social media. Conceive, distill & synthesize complex ideas & concepts into distinctive messaging platforms. Responsible for proofing a broad mix of communications deliverables to ensure they are on-brand & on-strategy. May lead other communications staff for the purpose of implementing specific communications projects, events, or programs w/in a given timeframe.
- Program & Team Leadership: Initiate programs through the creation of creative briefs & strategic messaging documents. Lead program/project kick- off meetings & serve as overall lead overseeing the development, implementation & tracking of communications programs/projects. Communicate clearly across the project teams, team expectations, accountabilities & project instructions. Advise Dept managers on issues, client needs, & Dept workload. Act as catalyst & team lead for connecting teams, ideas & programs for greater reach & impact.
- Team Development & Mentoring: Provide mentoring to staff & communication consultants, including guidance & training in project Mgmt & effective client interaction. Groom communications consultants to become more effective members of the Communications Dept. Train & mentor staff to provide effective back-up support through cross-training in specific tasks. Provide professional/technical guidance to other team members. Influence & encourage others around new concepts & methodology. Engage in matters requiring coordination across functional lines.
- Program Tracking & Monitoring & other duties as assigned: Maintain accurate, complete, well-organized file system for projects. Track projects through Dept using Dept database Protrack & ensure timely delivery of assigned projects. Ensure that all data in the job-tracking system is current.


Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a corporate communications/PR environment to include two (2) years of leadership/mentoring of programs and communications staff.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience consulting/advising stakeholder and client audiences.
- Minimum three (3) years of recent experience in planning and implementing complex communications plans and projects for a large complex organization or agency with a track record of increasing responsibility.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, english, business OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
- N/A

- Experience setting and managing budgets.
- Health care background required.
- Demonstrated ability to create diverse collateral for a variety of audiences.
- Functional/discipline expert in field/industry having experienced extensive change.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to work influentially with a wide range of internal and external constituencies.
- Ability to communicate clearly and influentially about design issues and objectives.
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and decision making skills and detail oriented.
- Exceptional aptitude working with senior leadership and consulting client/stakeholder audiences.
- Ability to maintain high productivity amid competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Ability to make sound decisions autonomously and to act independently in the best interests of KPNW.
- Proven project management skills. Ability to handle multiple projects at one time.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
- Working knowledge of health care insurance industry.
- Knowledge of publication production.
- Knowledge of portable document format (PDF) technologies, file transfer, encoding, and compression options.
- Knowledge of web-based communication/new and social media.
- Regularly contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques, and standards.
- Employs expertise as a generalist.
- Ability to maintain high productivity amid competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and serve as a consultant and resource to department clients.
- Working knowledge of web-based communication/new and social media.
 


Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum ten (10) years of experience in corporate or agency communications environment to include two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience of communications staff.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience as a Communication Consultant consulting/advising stakeholder and client audiences.
- Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in planning and implementing complex communications plans and projects for a large complex organization or agency with track record of increasing responsibility.
- Health care system experience.
- Experience directing new and social media campaigns.
- Experience directing special events.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Master's degree in marketing, communications, or related field.


- Demonstrated ability to create diverse collateral for a variety of audiences.
