The Business Process Automation (BPA) team drives operational efficiency across Health Plan Products, Service, and Administration (HPPSA) by leveraging intelligent technology and the latest automation solutions like Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, etc. to automate and reduce manual processes across the organization. The HPPSA BPA Integration Architect is responsible for defining best practices and guidance for integration of complex systems and providing expertise on all integration styles (services, APIs, ETL, Batch, messaging, etc.). The role is responsible for leading architecture for systems requiring complex integration solutions by working with other application architects to determine the best appropriate integration methods.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Drives the execution of integration across multiple work streams by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and updating new procedures and policies for integration; gaining cross-functional support for objectives and priorities; removing obstacles that impact performance; and developing contingency plans.

  • Leads the development of automation solution architectures, roadmaps, and system integration plans to align business, automation solutions, applications, data, integration, and/or infrastructure architecture.

  • Partner closely with AIS, HPPSA, KPIT Leaders and off-shore vendors to ensure delivery of automations within planned timelines.

  • Practices self-leadership and promotes learning in others by soliciting and acting on performance feedback; building collaborative, cross-functional relationships; communicating information and providing advice to drive projects forward; providing feedback to others, including upward feedback to leadership; influencing, mentoring, and coaching team members; fostering open dialogue amongst team members.

  • Participates in the selection and adoption of new high-impact technologies by researching technical trends and developments.

  • Partner in new opportunity and solutions identification with the Product Management team.

  • Supporting and advising the BPA leadership team on BPA project feasibility and effort estimations.

  • Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in software engineering, automation technology, technical consulting or similar field.

  • Minimum four (4) years' experience with the full SDLC.

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience managing a team in a fast-paced, agile & dynamic environment.

  • Minimum three (3) years' experience working with data and integration technologies (e.g., ESB ETL, EAI, EII).

  • Minimum three (3) years' experience working with multiple payload types (e.g., XML, JSON, X12, Delimited, Fixed Format, Binary).

  • Minimum three (3) years' experience working with API Management and/or SOA implementations.

  • Minimum three (3) years' experience architecting, designing, and implementing enterprise-scale, high volume, high availability systems.

  • Minimum two (2) years' in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.

  • Minimum two (2) years' experience in Agile delivery.

  • Education

  • Bachelor of Science in a science, technology, engineering, mathematics field or related field OR a minimum four (4) years experience in a directly related field required.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building and deploying with robotic process automation software, especially Blue Prism preferred.

  • Proven track record in software development with experience working on technically demanding projects preferred.

  • Healthcare, technology or insurance industry experience preferred.

  • Significant experience in managing complex projects that require a deep understanding of the application logic and dependencies preferred.

  • Experience leading integration, architecture and design sessions and creating necessary technical diagrams, documentation and effective power point presentations preferred.

  • Advanced degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Solid understanding of the full development lifecycle, developing detailed technical designs, and implementation preferred.

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously preferred.

  • Background in object-oriented programming preferred.

  • Proven track record of improving development and delivery methodology through innovative process and tools preferred.

  • Ability to lead war rooms and manage issue resolution preferred.

  • Ability to articulate and clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple and logical manner preferred.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and decisions preferred.
