Description:

The Business Process Automation (BPA) team drives operational efficiency across Health Plan Products, Service, and Administration (HPPSA) by leveraging intelligent technology and the latest automation solutions like Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, etc. to automate and reduce manual processes across the organization. The BPA Product Manager is responsible for leading product management activities for all HPPSA automation solutions. Responsibilities will include, the development of the overall product (process automations), as well as managing the growth, maturity, and decline of an automation post-launch which may include oversight of ongoing enhancements or extensions for an existing product. Activities may also include the creation and management of a program or portfolio of automations that support each HPPSA function, an automation roadmap, product line, and related services as appropriate. The Product Manager role is responsible for leading work throughout the BPA discovery and implementation process and ensuring key performance metrics for automation are established and business and operational business targets are met or exceeded.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Providing oversight on automation initiatives to drive them through the BPA Discovery, Implementation and Stabilization phases of delivery.

  • Create and/or socialize Product plan components/deliverables for projects with complex scale that require specific and/or technical focus on automations. This work includes tools for project governance, tools and templates, protocols, engagement strategy, escalation protocols, decision-making, risk management and contingency planning.

  • Draft new automation product strategy to ensure alignment with overall AIS-BPA direction and present to HPPSA leadership.

  • Participates in cross-functional teams of resources on complicated scope activities that support BPA automation implementation agenda, processes, and programs.

  • Identifies and tracks product discovery and implementation risks and/or issues, resolving issues where possible or escalating to higher management when needed. Assesses and manages risks and drives mitigation activities.

  • Manage Product Development scorecards and performance measures that provide input and feedback on initiative status. Collecting and reporting out on captured BPA benefits from the HPPSA organization.

  • Communicating the status and progress of HPPSA BPA automation discovery process and maintain the automation Roadmap.

  • BPA Business case development and management.

  • Basic Qualifications:

    Experience

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in product management, process improvement, technical consulting, Business Analysis or similar field.

  • Education

  • Bachelor of Science in a science, technology, engineering or related field OR a minimum four (4) years of experience in a directly related field required.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A

  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.


  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building and executing product roadmaps aligned with business priorities and technology capabilities preferred.

  • Experience driving product vision forward through collaboration and coordination with Technology teams, Operations, leadership, and business SMEs preferred.

  • Experience working through organizational change, developing and implementing creative solutions preferred.

  • Six Sigma certification and experience preferred.

  • Healthcare or insurance industry experience preferred.

  • Advanced degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics field or equivalent experience or Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred.

  • Ability to define documentation templates and create project artifacts that are appropriate to the scale of projects preferred.

  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously preferred.

  • Knowledge or experience with robotic process automation software preferred.

  • Knowledge or experience with agile software development Knowledge or experience with process improvement preferred.

  • An ability to articulate and clearly communicate complex problems and solutions in a simple and logical manner preferred.


  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and decisions preferred.
