Consultant II - IT Healthcare Delivery

In a consulting role, provide leadership and direction to end users in the area of IT strategic planning and integration. Work with all levels of staff across all regions, medical facilities and information services. Initiate joint planning and strategy activities to develop, implement, maintain or enhance an integrated information systems environment. Provide technical guidance and act as a liaison between customers and IT staff.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assists key customer groups in defining IT requirements including: business requirements, returns on investment, make/buy analysis, alignment with strategic plans, technical solutions, project scope and project budget estimates.

  • Consults with and provides technical guidance to key customer groups. Creates integration plans providing client areas with technology solutions and services alternatives which support business strategies.

  • Enlists support for IT efforts, builds trust and teamwork in the IT community, fosters superior communications with diverse groups with different needs.

  • Identifies & facilitates operational change resulting from automation or re-engineered work processes.

  • As an ongoing single point of contact for key customer groups throughout the organization, acts as a liaison between customers & IT staff; assures positive & constructive communication.

  • Performs related consulting duties as assigned or requested.

  • Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible positions in IT or medical centers; business/clinical requirements and cost/benefit analysis; business process and engineering; and project development.

  • Minimum six (6) years of consulting, clinical/business management or information technology experience.

  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree OR a minimum four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

  • High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) is required.

  • License, Certification, Registration

  • Additional Requirements:

  • Planning, conceptual, consulting, communication, critical thinking, analysis, negotiation, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Knowledge of IT vocabulary and systems development concepts and clinical/business processes.

  • Demonstrated skills using project management tools for planning, resourcing and scheduling projects.

  • Basic technical understanding of computer platforms and operating systems.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, i.e. designated team or project lead.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare industry experience.

  • Experience in project management and consulting roles.

  • Experience managing vendor and/or contractor relationships.

  • Bachelor's OR advanced degree in computer sciences, business administration or health care administration, MBA, MHA or similar degree.

  • Demonstrated success in managing business engineering or information system projects.

  • Ability to manage concurrent work on multiple projects and systems.

  • Understanding of business process analysis techniques and knowledge of quality management principles.
