Provides consultative services to regional and line of business demographic, membership data collection, analytics and system activities necessary to inform and drive line of business performance. This position is accountable for consulting on forecasting and membership analytics with various stakeholders in regional and national leadership. Serves as lead consultant providing oversight accountability for consultant and analyst teams supporting the Region. This position is also accountable for communicating/presenting analytical findings supporting major business projects and drives to implement recommendations.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Works with LOB Strategy and execution team and other customers as appropriate. Acts as a subject matter expert in understanding forecast modeling needs (point in time and trend) and producing membership and account growth forecasts and any other analytics yet to be defined, in support of key business and strategic initiatives.
  • Develops and manages forecasting models, including defining and documenting standards, policies, model definitions, etc., and designs, coordinates and produces annual regional operating budget, rate setting, strategic plan, MOB and Line of Business forecasts as well as quarterly re-forecasts and forecasting tracking. Use presentation skills to communicate complex analysis and findings in a simple, concise and interpretable manner.
  • Proactively identify and research key business issues by regularly analyzing trends in organization's performance. Design analytic approaches and analysis to address business questions or issues. Lead presentation and consultation of interpreting analyses of data, providing recommendations in support of critical long-term regional membership and margin goals.
  • Evaluates on a regular basis, model to assess reasonableness of input data and assumptions and predictive accuracy of output, and applies learnings to improve model performance. Looks for opportunities to automate model processes to enhance model responsiveness.

  • Basic Qualifications:


    • Minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible related professional experience required.


    • Bachelor's degree in economics, business, finance, marketing, health policy or related field OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

    • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

    • Ability to synthesize data, uncover inherent trends in the data, make recommendations about associated implications to business performance, and communicate findings and recommendations to a variety of audiences.

    • Ability to multi-task and adapt within a constantly changing environment.

    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, needing minimum direction. An enthusiastic attitude and a heavy dose of curiosity.

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively use software similar to Excel, Access, SAS, Business Objects and PowerPoint, as well as learn new software applications as needed.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, verbal and written.

    • Strong organizational, technical, mathematical, analytical and project management skills, attention to detail and intrinsic editorial expertise.

    • Solid understanding of the health care and managed care industries (including trends and legislative issues), business, sales and marketing techniques.

    • Computer proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in applying data and analytic methods in a managed care/health insurance business environment preferred.

    • Experience in database management systems and in the design, build, population and maintenance of sophisticated predictive models, including forecasting membership and account growth and assessing rate position.

    • Master's degree preferred.
