The marketing Copywriter conceptualizes, writes, and edits creative projects across multiple media-print, digital, direct mail, powerpoint, outdoor, and broadcast-for both consumer and business audiences. Partners with internal teams and sometimes agency partners to understand marketing objectives and create effective solutions that bring the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington brand voice and positioning to life.  Manages multiple projects with tight deadlines, consistently demonstrating the ability to work quickly and execute at a high level.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Master an understanding of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington key products and services, and our target audiences. Collaborate with designers and art directors to conceptualize creative approaches to advertising and campaign materials (roughly 20 percent of the work). Develop, revise, and update copy for campaigns and operational communications that can clear rigorous review by internal clients, creative leaders, compliance, and legal. Conduct research, interviews, and internal meetings and presentations as needed. Support brand positioning, and meet brand voice guidelines and editorial standards. Match tone to communication's purpose.
  • Support continuous improvement and participate in process improvement efforts. Exploit opportunities to learn from clients, internal team members, creative leadership, and agency partners to improve quality and efficiency. Look for and share best practices. Suggest improvements to project language, tone, organization, or format to clients, using skillful negotiation to achieve mutually satisfying results. Maximize productivity through focus, drive, prioritization, and adept use of the department's project management system. Work with project managers to track project tasks and meet schedules.

  • Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum five (5) years of professional experience as a writer or copywriter.

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising, communications, journalism, English, or a related field.

  • Experience writing for a range of media and audiences.
  • Experience working directly with multiple clients.
  • Experience working with designers, art directors, and creative directors.

  • Well organized and detail-oriented.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with web writing and web usability.
  • Experience with direct mail and with writing or editing scripts for video and radio.
  • Advertising and ad agency experience a plus.
  • Proficiency in SEO.
