Ensures enterprise data resources are consistent and sharable across all Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington information systems. Maintains the repository of information about Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington's enterprise databases, i.e. data model diagrams, data definitions and attributes.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Data Analysis:Performs data and process analysis activities for complex systems that may cross functional business areas. Produces data related deliverables, such as conceptual, logical and physical data models; data flow diagrams; systems diagrams; metadata definitions; process flow diagrams, etc. Supports IT application development and support teams by assisting with identification and documentation of business requirements with a special emphasis on the information used in business processes. Participates in project planning, work planning, product planning, or solution engineering sessions with technology and/or business partners.Evaluates vendor supplied application software to determine compatibility with KFHPW's enterprise data architecture. Performs reverse database engineering on vendor applications, constructs logical data models from vendor databases, maps data items to KFHPW's enterprise data model and documents data attributes.Assists with developing inter-platform
  • Documentation and Standards:Under the guidance of the Enterprise Data Architect, works with other data managers, data architects, and data governance to maintain data management policies, procedures and standards ( e.g. data naming conventions, modelling standards). Works with data governance, data stewards, Partners, and other data managers to maintain the policies, procedures, and standards.Administers meta-data repositories where they exist using CASE tools to update logical and physical data model diagrams, data definitions and attributes, glossary of business terms, data custodianship and other related information.
  • Coaching and Training:Provides orientation, training and mentoring to both permanent ISD staff and contracted data analysts and systems analysts as needed to ensure consistency of data analysis deliverables.Coaches/Mentors other in their business unit in data modelling techniques (conceptual, logical, physical). Works with other data managers to make sure that data is consistent across all applications and document the exceptions.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum five (5) years of data modeling and process modeling experience & prior experience supporting concurrent development projects.
  • Education
  • Bachelor's degree OR a minimum four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) is required.
  • License, Certification, Registration

  • Additional Requirements:
  • Familiarity with relational concepts and theory; Demonstrated ability to produce logical data and process models based of principles of normalization and using standard diagramming techniques.
  • Communication skills.
  • Knowledge of SQL programming language and ANSI HL7 and ANSI X12 standards. Skilled in using computer aided system engineering (CASE) tools.
  • Interviewing and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with CASE tools and/or database design software tools and leading joint application development (JAD) sessions.
  • Health care industry experience.
