Description:

The Health Care Business Consultant I will deliver key deliverables and analyses for the region, and manage work streams as part of broader work plan for medium and large scale, cross-divisional projects and initiatives. The HBC I will partner with across teams and subject matter experts to gather data and conduct analyses, with a focus on competitor intelligence and market assessment to inform and shape strategy development . The HBC I will provide business-related support, strategic analytics, and development of executive presentations. Projects will vary but may include: evaluating and developing proposals for new market initiatives, building business cases to justify an investment, analyzing business opportunities, developing business strategy, and problem solving.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • CLIENT AND CROSS FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:  Interviews subject matter experts and leadership to develop deep understanding for the team of the business problem or opportunity.  Engages with cross-functional departments and staff to gather data, collect input and shape content.   Communicates with leadership sponsor occasionally, as part of the team.

  • SOLUTION DESIGN:  Data collection using secondary research, stakeholder interviews, surveys, focus groups and/or examining work product, processes, and reports. Uses actuarial and other financial models to develop analytical results. Data analysis and synthesis.Identifies and analyzes gaps; develops fact base to support develop best practice recommendations.

  • FEEDBACK:  Prepares and may present components of reports summarizing results, describing analysis, documenting methods, discussing limitations, and providing recommendations.

  • IMPLEMENTATION and EVALUATION:  Supports feasibility studies and research needed to execute test plan and implementation.

  • STAFF DEVELOPMENT:  Develops self at rigorous pace, acquiring and accumulating technical and problem solving skills to work independently as role progresses.

    Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year of relevant post-college work experience in business or health care provider industry.

  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree in liberal arts or business or related field of study

  • License, Certification, Registration

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of relevant post-college work experience in management consulting, business or health care provider industry

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, organization development, and/or health care management preferred.

  • Demonstrated high academic achievement

  • Strong understanding of health system profitability drivers and decision making.

  • Able to own a discrete pieces of work, and be proactive.

  • Highly motivated with strong work ethic.

  • Ability to quickly establish a rapport and build strong relationships with team members and staff across Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills demonstrated by the ability to structure and solve complex problems and synthesize quantitative and qualitative information into actionable recommendations.

  • Capable of managing multiple priorities, project plans, deadlines, and resources.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Knowledge of computer operations and programs, demonstrated proficiency with Excel, experience with modeling and analytical tools preferred.

  • Must possess the highest integrity with an optimal mix of empathy and self-confidence
