Manage purchaser accounts through billing processes, cash collection and distribution, customer service and reconciliation of account receivables. Prepare billings and reconcile purchaser accounts. Maintain membership database.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and timely billings for purchaser accounts. Receive payments with updated eligibility information, including retroactive and prospective adjustments and, using sound accounting principles, basic reconciliation to billing. Ensure accounts are accurate to meet set monthly financial and statistical requirements.
  • Maintain accurate membership database by processing enrollment, terminations, transfers and demographic changes. Timely. Conform to purchaser service agreement and State and Federal regulations.
  • Interpret eligibility rules in conformance with service agreements, State and Federal regulations and departmental guidelines. Learn to research policy issues, interpret results and communicate to group contacts.
  • Obtain and provide accurate eligibility information to purchasers, clinics, hospitals, pharmacies and members. If an immediate enrollment issue occurs, update system per internal immediate enrollment procedures.
  • Represent Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington to purchaser representatives in billing and eligibility issues Instruct employer group contacts in procedures via participation in on-site meetings/training sessions with supervisor, Account Executive and purchaser contacts or work over the telephone or by e-mail.

  • Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum two (2) years of bookkeeping or accounting background.
  • Experience with receivables, reconciliation and collections.
  • Experience in membership and enrollment functions in health care environment.
  • Experience with large transaction systems or similar software.

  • Associate's degree OR proven competencies and directly related work experience.
    License, Certification, Registration

    Additional Requirements:

  • Communication, customer service and problem solving skills.
  • Computer skills in a Windows environment, including MS Word, Excel and Access.
  • Understanding of general accounting principles and accreditation regulations.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree and experience in health care accounting preferred.
  • Accounting background in the health care insurance field.
