Accountable for the processes and systems needed to fill 4.5 million prescription annually while managing, organizes and directs the daily operations of all teams within the Pharmacy Fulfillment Center. Oversees the care and delivery of service provided by the fulfillment center ensuring that they meet or exceed standards for: daily productions, patient service, clinical quality, and safety. Maximizes the use of organizational resources through development, implementation and marketing of the use of the most cost effective fulfillment processes. Assures that work plans developed within the Pharmacy Division relating to the centralized processing of prescriptions are implemented and carried to completion. Works in collaboration with other areas in pharmacy as well as other departments to assure quality outcomes, manage access, and implement reliable clinical processes and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and direction to Fulfillment Center pharmacy employees including recruiting, interviews, hires, orients, trains, mentors, evaluates, and may counsel, discipline and terminate pharmacy staff. Encourages and supports continuing education for staff. Works in collaboration with other members of the GSE management team, statewide Pharmacy managers, and Pharmacy Administration to assure the highest level of centralized services that support the provision of outstanding customer service for both mail order and centralized refill services. Coordinates program development, implementation and communication flow with the Outpatient Pharmacies, Pharmacy's Centralized services and Clinical division and with outside departments.

  • Assures pharmacy meets all regulatory requirements - both state and federal for prescription fulfillment and delivery either as the pharmacist in charge or working directly with the pharmacist in charge.

  • Manages the human, financial and capital resources for Fulfillment Center pharmacy. Manages costs through appropriate utilization of staff, inventory, materials and equipment. Accountable for department fiscal outcomes.

  • Assures that strategic planning, workflow standardization, maximized technology and high quality, member- focused service for all centralized fulfilment of outpatient prescriptions are in place so prescriptions provided by the Campus pharmacy meets service, operational, and regulatory requirements.Develops and implements planned quality improvement activities applying the Lean process into daily workflow to reduce variation and increase customer satisfaction. Implements systems changes to decrease medication incidents, adverse drug reactions, improve customer service and improved documentation of clinical activities.

  • Basic Qualifications:

    Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role; managing the day-to day operations, performance of staff and work flow.

  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree

  • License, Certification, Registration

  • Washington State Pharmacy Assistant license by date of hire/transer.

  • Ability to recruit, mentor, develop and engage staff; monitor performance standards; deliver results; and hold staff accountable.

  • Ability to collect and evaluate data to identify areas for process improvement and implement to those improvements.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to effectively anticipate, resolve and respond to issues as they arise.

  • Knowledge of ancillary services regulatory and/or health care requirements.

  • Financial management skills.


  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years to seven (7) years of management experience specifically of a fulfillment center or very large pharmacy.


  • Bachelor of Science OR PharmD degree.

  • Master's degree and/or specialty residency in pharmacy, health administration or business administration.

  • Washington State Pharmacist license by date of hire/transfer.
