Leads the planning, development, and integration of volunteer programs in accordance with the mission and goals of the Medical Center in order to meet the needs of patients, staff and visitors. Manages staff and ensures they are in compliance with federal, state, local, and union regulations. Administers policies and procedures to meet organizational, state and federal regulations and TJC standards.

Essential Responsibilities:
Upholds Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws. Plans, develops, initiates, maintains and evaluates services of a comprehensive Medical Center volunteer program which meets the needs of patients, staff and visitors. Identifies new opportunities for volunteer assistance and negotiates the expanded volunteer roles throughout the Medical Center. In conjunction with KFH/P and SCPMG leaders, managers, and supervisors, develops volunteer strategies, goals, and objectives. Provides a competent and motivated Medical Center volunteer group through recruitment, selection, orientation, training and supervision of volunteers in accordance with organizational policies and procedures to provide quality complimentary volunteer services. Ensures the staff is in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements. Ensures staff provide consistent and high quality volunteer programs. Provides monthly and continuing education programs to volunteer staff as required by organization, State and Federal regulations and TJC standards. Works with the community to develop and expand volunteer programs which benefit both the community and Kaiser Permanente. Serves as liaison to community groups. Develops additional revenue opportunities within the Medical Center. May maintain and document all transactions of Medical Center Gift Shop(s). Ensures appropriate records are maintained for all volunteer services. Develops and manages partnerships with local high schools and colleges. Creates and manages new volunteer programs across the Medical Center to meet the needs of patients and staff. Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum five (5) years of volunteer administration and supervision experience required.
  • Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field required, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A

  • Additional Requirements:
  • Previous experience in events management, and public speaking are required.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse group.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous hospital volunteer administration and supervision experience preferred.
  • Previous retail management experience preferred.
