Under the general supervision of the Physician in Charge and the Assistant Director of Operations for administrative issues, plans, develops, implements and evaluates all activities of the Advance Practice Staff. Also provides supervisory oversight to this group.  Involved in quality oversight and APP training. Participates in short- and long-term planning for improving delivery and accessibility of service in the department as related to APP scope of practice.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates central planning, development, implementation and evaluation of all services provided by APP staff with appropriate input from Physician in Charge and Assistant Director.
  • These include APP and departmental goal setting, projects, new series productivity, quality of care and services.
  • Responsible for the coordination of the development, implementation, evaluation and revision of any departmental polices related to APP scope of work.
  • Ensures APP compliance with all licensure and certification requirements
  • Participates in the interviewing and selection process for all APP candidates
  • Performs other administrative responsibilities such as collection and compilation of statistics, budget development and monitoring.
  • Manages and resolves human resource, labor relation, employee and department safety and risk management issues.
  • Works closely with local and regional physician oversight groups to develop remote care services such as e-visits and chat.
  • Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum three (3) full-time recent experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.
  • Education
  • If Nurse Practitioner:
  • Graduate of an accredited RN Program
  • Graduate of an accredited NP Program
  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • If Physician Assistant:
  • Graduate of an accredited PA Program
  • Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies
  • License, Certification, Registration
  • If Nurse Practitioner:
  • Current RN license required; California RN license required by date of hire.
  • Current California Nurse Practitioner certificate
  • Maintains national certification as a Nurse Practitioner from approved organizations
  • Current California Furnishing Number and DEA
  • National Provider Number (NPI)
  • Physician Assistant:
  • Current California PA licensure
  • Maintains national certification as a PA from NCCPA
  • National Provider Number (NPI)

  • Additional Requirements:
  • Consistently demonstrates the knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviors necessary to provide supervisor and culturally sensitive service to each outer, to our members and to customers, contracted providers and vendors.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy on Windows applications to include Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills: knowledge of ambulatory care practices/operations/issues.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Leadership and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Advance knowledge and capability with KPHC (Epic) systems preferred.
  • Experience in providing remote patient care such as telephone triage and advice or other nontraditional face to face patient care.
