Contract Specialist I (GHRI)

Description: The Contract Specialist I serves as a valued member of a team of contract professionals as the single point of contact. Drafts agreements and associated documents for processing and review by contract officers. Reviews incoming agreements for issues and provides feedback to contract officers. Completes simple agreement negotiations with other institutions under the guidance of contract officers. Prepares and processes standard amendment/modifications. Maintains databases, runs reports and updates dashboards.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Prepares contractual documents for execution within required timelines, utilizing standard templates and standard contract work processes
  • Receives and processes all incoming/outgoing awards for the institute utilizing the Agreements Tracker. Sends contract intake form to project teams to enter project information. Print and file intake form with contract.
  • Acts as the single point of contact for all contract activities. Runs reports as requested and monitors grants mailbox for grants and contracts.
  • Receive, review, negotiate and process standard contract modifications. Prepares modifications at the request of appropriate Grant Manager, checks for accuracy and forwards to appropriate agency for review and consideration.
  • Updates Agreement Tracking database, and uploads fully executed documents to Kwikwork.


  • Basic Qualifications:
    Experience
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience creating and tracking documents, managing filing systems.
    Education
  • Bachelor's degree OR a minimum four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
  • High School Diploma OR General Education Development (GED) is required.
    License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of experience with databases and data entry.
  • Experience drafting legal documents.
  • Microsoft Office Package.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Accounting knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of NIH and/or Federal law rule and regulation as they pertain to research administration.
