Description: Develops, leads and executes an independent program of evaluation and research resulting in national and international recognition for KFHPW and the Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute (KPWHRI). Oversees and directs all activities associated with the Center for Community Health, including development, community service, administrative, and research/evaluation efforts. Publishes work in high impact journals and other related public health journals. Named as Evaluation Director, Principal Investigator or Co-principal Investigator on significant program evaluation grants or contracts.


Essential Responsibilities:
  • Plans, initiates and manages scientifically rigorous monitoring and evaluation programs on topics of national and international importance. Identifies and designs complex evaluation projects and programs, obtains and serves as Principal Investigator or Evaluation Director on major evaluation grants & contracts. Develops and manages a program of evaluation including multiple grants and contracts and a large program evaluation team. Recruits, trains and supports multi-disciplinary teams including collaborations with other internal and external investigators and evaluators. Recongized as a national/international leader in evaluation including principal investigator of major research and or evaluation studies of national importance.
  • Analyzes and synthesizes evaluation findings. Disseminates work using a variety of media and venues. Publishes papers, reports, and articles in high impact and other recognized professional journals. Represents CCHE and KPWHRI within KP, and to national and international health care and health promotion community when reporting evaluation findings of major importance in leading public health and scientific journals and presenting evaluation findings and policy recommendations to health care systems and policy-makers. Garners a national and international evaluation reputation.
  • Develops relationships & partnerships with major funding granters and health leaders locally & nationally. Ensures CCHE accomplishments & contributions are recognized among local, regional & national leaders.
  • Serves as an expert, mentor, collaboration and develops evaluation skills of evaluation team members by reviewing and critiquing work.
  • Leads development, monitoring, evaluation, and research of health promotion, disease prevention, community service, volunteerism and assistance programs consistent with mission & goals of KPWHRI.


  • Basic Qualifications:
    Experience
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience as a principal investigator or evaluation director in successful competition for research or evaluation grants or contracts.
    Education
  • PhD. or Master's degree thesis in Public Health (MPH) or MPA, MSN with health care relevant field required with a focus on health promotion, public health, and/or health and health care program evaluation.
    License, Certification, Registration
  • N/A


    Additional Requirements:
  • National reputation in health care or health care promotion program evaluation with contribution to own field of research or evaluation.


    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous work experience or collaboration with a health plan or HMO such as Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington or Kaiser Permanente.
  • Ten (10) or more years principal investigator or evaluation director securing major grants or contracts exceeding $500,000 over time.

  • Doctorate degree OR eight (8) years of experience in a directly related field.
