Director Urgent Care Services

The director oversees the operational and administrative functions of the network of KPWA urgent care centers and is responsible for the design and oversight of patient focused, quality, effective, and efficient care across all urgent care and clinical decision units. Provides leadership for the direction of care, program development, implementation and evaluation of urgent care services. Works with members of medical staff and leadership to execute on key strategic priorities for the service line. Creates a working environment with highly reliable processes and procedures to ensure patient and staff safety. Works across medical disciplines to ensure coordinated care delivery for patients. Collaborates with nursing and medical center leadership to ensure that performance meets or exceeds standards described in medical center policies, DNV accreditation standards, and other appropriate local and national standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Participates and leads the long-term planning for the urgent care network within the construct of the KPWA strategic plan. Develops business plans, performance metrics, dashboards, and provider reports to create a data driven and transparent culture. Creates a shared vision by developing and continuously communicating goals in alignment with the organizational mission.

  • Develops and proposes annual practical operating budgets and capital expenditures for each location that will contribute towards improving the efficiency and cost effectiveness of all services provided while meeting the needs of our patients, physicians, and employees. Reviews urgent care expenses regularly to identify ways to reduce costs while improving efficiency, resulting in an overall net savings on the approved budget.

  • Develops and deploys specific high reliability tactics that are designed to ensure an exceptional patient experience, every patient, every time. Responsible for leadership and supervision of personnel engaged in providing patient focused care and supporting workflow through the provision of integrated, effective and innovative practices.  

  • Sets standards and expectations for the delivery of safe, high quality, patient care services that are highly reliable and consistent with regulatory requirements. Regularly collaborates with medical staff leaders to enable the implementation of best practice medicine in the Urgent Care setting. Collaborates with medical staff across KPWA to ensure urgent care services meet the needs of KPWA patients across the continuum of care.

  • Creates a collaborative working environment across the urgent care network locations where providers and staff work together to provide patient care in an efficient, professional, and respectful work environment. Actively connects providers and staff to the primary purpose of their work with a focus on meeting patients' needs.

  • Basic Qualifications:


  • Minimum five (5) years of nursing leadership/management experience.

  • Minimum five (5) years clinical experience in an emergency or critical care services setting.

  • Education

  • Master's degree in nursing OR Bachelor's degree in nursing AND a Master's degree in business administration, health care administration or related field.

  • License, Certification, Registration

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Washington with good standing in active status.

  • Additional Requirements:

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, leadership and management skills.

  • Independent, self-directed and proactive leadership skills.

  • Experience working in complex environments and uncertain markets.

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work in a changing, fast paced, busy environment.

  • Thorough knowledge of legal, regulatory, ethical, managerial, organizational requirements, principles and standards of care for hospitals and healthcare systems.

  • Demonstrated success in creating and driving change that focuses on sustainable improvement.

  • BLS, ACLS, PALS certification (may be obtained or renewed after hire)

  • Preferred Qualifications:
