WE ARE SEEKING A GRANT MANAGER WHO DESIRES TO WORK IN A FAST-PACED, COLLEGIAL ENVIRONMENT SUPPORTING WORLD-CLASS EPIDEMIOLOGICAL RESEARCH. PREFERRED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE STRONG DATA ENTRY SKILLS, BE PROFICIENT IN MICROSOFT OFFICE, HAVE EXCELLENT ATTENTION TO DETAIL, BE ABLE TO MULTI-TASK, BE ADAPTABLE TO CHANGE, AND BE ABLE TO LEARN NEW SKILLS AND PROCESSES QUICKLY.


Responsible for maintenance of tracking logs and databases to provide accurate reports to funding agencies. Using knowledge of compliance and contracting requirements, prepares financial and contractual documents for execution and accurate electronic financial management. Reviews forms and budgets for accuracy and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements from various funding sources. Performs audits of files for compliance reporting. May take on routine duties and responsibilities of Grant Management Specialist II as time and experience allow.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Compliance: Performs effort management oversight and planning using Access databases and Lawson reports. Identifies potential problems and provides counsel or refers to supervisor for further review and resolution. Performs audits of project files for compliance to KPWHRI standards and regulatory requirements. Prepares contracts for negotiation and execution according to KFHPW and NIH policies. Has knowledge of appropriate OMB Circulars (A-122, A-21, A-110, A-133) and the NIH Grants Policy Statement as applicable to research conducted at KPWHRI.

  • Fiscal Responsibilities: Independently gathers and interprets information from multiple sources to set up new awards in electronic reporting system for financial management. Works with GMS IIs and GMS IIIs to review budgets and other materials for grant-related activities. Assists in preparation of outgoing subaward agreements for issuance within required timelines.

  • Process Improvement and Strategic Business Initiatives: Participates in team efforts to improve business processes using Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington's Lean improvement methodology. Adheres to standard work and manages portfolio using established best practices. Actively participates in GCA daily management systems, dashboard data preparation and provides appropriate follow-through implementation of countermeasures when necessary.
