Description:

The policy consultant is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of the policy management function for Maui Health System. Facilitates the implementation, integration, and maintenance of National policies and procedures. Advises operational units on policy and procedure development. The policy consultant supports strategic policy development, administration and services to support the MHS business strategy and mitigate organizational risk.  


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manages, creates, and maintains client relationships.

  • Facilitates the development and implementation of new National and operational policies and procedures.  Advises clients on policy drafting, editing and policy management best practices.

  • Validates that policies and procedures have been properly prepared and fully reviewed before submitting for final approval.  

  • Initiating and documenting routine monitoring of timely review and revising of policies and procedures as established by MHS leadership.

  • Acts as subject matter expert on technology utilized as the repository for all National and MHS policies and procedures.  Represents MHS interest in policy application software configuration, testing and implementation.

  • Maintains an archive of outdated or discontinued policies.

  • Serves as compliance resource to organization.  Provides project management and analytic support for compliance projects.  

  • Basic Qualifications:

    Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years of regulatory compliance or related analytical/consulting experience.

  • Education

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public health, health administration, or related field, OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • License, Certification, Registration

  • N/A


  • Additional Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge related federal and state laws and regulations, hospital/clinical systems, processes, and operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to consult, advise, and translate customer needs into solution alternatives.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in conflict resolution, decision making, group presentations, group process facilitation,

  • influence, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, project management, quality management, results orientation, systems thinking, team building, teamwork, written communication, change management, investigation, and risk assessment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in word processing, multimedia presentations, spreadsheet, database, project management,

  • and desktop publishing PC applications.


  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Health care or clinical experience. 

  • Master's degree in business administration, public health, health administration, or related field.
