Connect@MSSA: Where You Go to Grow

Ready to set the stage for long-term career success? As an early careerist in Marketing, Sales, Service & Administration (MSSA), you will participate in Connect@MSSA, a program designed to help new, early-in-career employees hit the ground running at KP. In partnership with KP's National University Relations team, we offer events for early-in-career employees to grow their professional skills.

What is the purpose of Connect@MSSA?

Since 2014, Connect@MSSA has supported hundreds of new, early-in-career professionals by creating a sense of community and connection through leadership exposure, cohort-building, and networking offerings. The program heavily focuses on education, exposure, experience, and career development to aid early-in-career professionals as they start their careers at KP.

During this enculturation program, we tie back to our organizational objectives of:

• Developing Talent
• Infusing New Perspectives
• Fostering Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity

Requirements

Program participants are full-time, early-in-career employees within non-represented Marketing, Sales, Service & Administration roles. Connect@MSSA events are typically offered during the regular workday and are opt-in based on employee interest and balance of workload.

This program is designed for candidates who possess the following:

• An educational background in marketing, business, or health care administration; mathematics, statistics, economics, or finance preferred
• Interest or experience in business development, marketing, relationship management, analytics, and more
• A strong work ethic and the ability to solve problems and learn quickly

Pathfinder Program

Pathfinder Program: Increase your Business Acumen

Kaiser Permanente's Pathfinder Program is an exciting opportunity for professionals to develop technical and leadership skills to succeed in a rewarding career with us. You’ll benefit from dedicated support, mentorship, and the ability to make meaningful professional contributions to our Finance and Enterprise Business Services organizations – and your future.

By program completion, you'll have attained valuable on-the-job experience through a wide variety of projects and work assignments that might include analyzing data, consulting with business partners, presenting recommendations to senior leaders, implementing process improvements, and more. Highlights of this experience include:

• Dedicated program manager support
• Hands-on experience to increase business acumen
• Training and mentorship throughout each rotation
• Networking events and ongoing exposure to various professionals and leaders

Program Duration & Location

Based in any of our Kaiser Permanente regions, this two-year program consists of three 8-month rotation assignments.

In addition to gaining an inside look into the nation's leading not-for-profit health plan, you'll participate in rotations that will give you experience in departments that may include, but are not limited to:

Requirements

The program is designed for professionals who are in the early phase of their career and typically have 0 — 7 years of work experience. Candidates must have:

• Bachelor’s degree in business/health care administration or related discipline OR four years of experience in a directly related field
• High learning agility
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• Ability to adapt to changing business priorities
• Strong interest in finance, shared services, and health care

Northwest Fellowship Program

Northwest Fellowship Program: Calling All Future Leaders

Ready to pursue a path toward becoming a future health care leader? Focusing on Health Care Operations, in this program you'll develop your professional skills and leadership potential by contributing directly to our mission. Structured to maximize learning opportunities, the Northwest Fellowship Program presents a unique chance to accelerate professional development.

Fellows are full-time, contributing participants in the operational activities for Health Plan, Care Delivery, Research, Policy/Community Benefit, and Dental Administration. Highlights of this experience include:

Administrative Fellowship (Two Positions)

• Engage in exciting assignments in project development, strategic implementation, and operations management — all designed to build leadership effectiveness and hone leadership, analytic, and communication skills
• Invaluable hands-on experience that will build a deep understanding of Kaiser Permanente while accelerating professional development
• Gain experience in hospital and outpatient operations, strategic planning, facilities planning, and more
• Exposure to leaders at all levels of the organization
• Project plans with key issues, barriers, approaches, performance metrics, and evaluation
• Ensure implementation by developing and overseeing project management and tracking tools to track action items, issues, risks, and decisions, status reports, and timelines
• Ongoing mentoring from experienced Kaiser Permanente professionals
• Opportunities to build relationships and form a strong professional network
• Provide other technical and project support duties as assigned
• Support, insight, and guidance from successful Fellowship alumni

Mitch Greenlick Administrative Fellowship (One Position) in Dental Research and Public Policy

• Assist in staffing and preparation for select committees and meetings
• Meet with key leaders and frontline clinical staff
• Participate in community engagement events and legislative activities
• Lead coordination effort for design and planning activities, including help with strategy development
• Project plans with key issues, barriers, approaches, performance metrics, and evaluation
• Agenda creation, meeting facilitation, issues tracking, status reporting, documentation, management, and event planning
• Ensure implementation by developing and overseeing project management and tracking tools to track action items, issues, risks and decisions, status reports, and timelines
• Coordinate necessary communications, help identify stakeholder audiences, and ensure those stakeholders are informed
• Complete a written final project
• Present final project to program leadership and staff
• Provide other technical and project support duties as assigned

Program Duration & Location

Three candidates are selected for this 12-month program each year, and it takes place at our medical centers and regional offices. The program begins in June, and the application deadline ends the last week of September.

Requirements

Candidates must be graduating seniors pursuing MHA, MPH, MBA, or dentistry degrees related to health care administration. A minimum of one year of experience in a clinical setting is required. Fellows typically have varying degrees of experience ranging from summer internships to a few years of full-time work experience prior to graduate school.

California Administrative Fellowship Program

California Administrative Fellowship Program: Accelerate Your Career

The Postgraduate Fellowship in Health Care Administration recognizes talented professionals early in their careers who are looking to develop their leadership potential in a dynamic and unique environment. This program maximizes learning opportunities for fellows as well as supports the operational needs of the organization. Highlights of this experience include:

• Practical hands-on experience that will contribute to the fellows' professional development, as well as to their understanding of Kaiser Permanente
• Exposure to leaders at all levels of the organization
• Building and enhancing skills in project development, strategic implementation, and operations management

Program Duration & Locations

Northern California:

12-month fellowship focused on health care operations with two, 6-month rotations at a medical center. There is also an optional corporate rotation at the end of the 12-month period that is held at the regional offices.

Southern California:

24-month fellowship that includes three, 8-month rotations: two at a medical center and/or medical office, and one at the regional office. Fellows are placed in their first rotation by the organization, but generally choose their location for the second and third rotations.
