Job Summary:

Conducts factual research for specific topics relevant to the attorneys case and analyzes queries from attorneys to make recommendations to address matters at hand, with detailed instructions. Supports the review of legal documents and organizes and maintains databases of legal documents/work products with detailed instructions. Contributes to projects inside own team. Coordinates, communicate effectively with stakeholders and implements innovative ways to improve processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to information and data management by: organizing and maintaining databases of legal documents/work products and files with direction from attorneys; tracking and monitoring status of straightforward cases and documents for ongoing matters; and notifying immediate team of updates and changes.
  • Supports legal document preparation by: reviewing and preparing routine forms and files for certain entities with guidance from attorneys; reviewing routine materials and work documents needed to support attorneys summaries for case/discovery strategies; finalizing production of straightforward reports and other necessary materials for function activities upon direction and request of the attorney(s); and following detailed instructions to ensure timely delivery of complete and accurate documentation in accordance with case requirements.
  • Supports case-relevant legal research by: gathering information on specific topics relevant to the attorneys case and learning to analyze queries from attorneys; following guidance to provide basic content and fact-checking to stakeholders (e.g., in-house counsel, claims/risk managers) to ensure compliance; and assisting with drafting legal memoranda.
  • Contributes to resolving legal issues and potential risks by: identifying routine issues that might interfere with legal teams goals or activities; implementing straightforward solutions and recommendations to address issues with direction; assisting in the creation of materials for presenting solutions and recommendations to counsel and related stakeholders with direction from attorney(s); and following guidance to identify potential risks.
  • Supports ongoing legal function initiatives by: contributing to and collaborating on projects inside own team with direction; coordinating straightforward events and activities between internal and external business units; following direction to compile data and facts regarding operations and other information as needed; following detailed guidance to communicate with project owners, team members, and internal stakeholders on routine matters; and following specific guidelines to implement new and innovative ways to accomplish work and improve protocols to increase efficiencies with direction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent OR Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a corporate or business office environment.
  • Fulfilling paralegal licensing/certification aligned with state requirements (e.g., California Business and Professions Code, Sections 6450 through 6456).
  • Certificate of Paralegal Training OR Juris Doctorate.

  • Fulfills paralegal licensing/certification aligned with state requirements for any state in which Kaiser does business.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of experience working in health care legal administration.
  • One (1) year of experience in health care or another heavily regulated industry (e.g., Banking).
