Certified Clinical Dietitian 24 Hours Per Week
To prescribe and implement clinical nutrition interventions which produce changes in eating and lifestyle behaviors, medical condition and relief of symptoms. Provide nutritional consultation and in-service to providers/staff.
- Work with the inter team and with the patient/client and family and/or advocate on nutrition-related aspects of a treatment plan by providing medical nutrition therapy, conducting nutrition education and counseling, care coordination and management to address prevention and treatment of one or more chronic conditions or diseases. Nutrition care outcomes are measured using the nutrition care process.
- Delivers nutrition education to patients/clients to help patients/clients voluntarily manage or modify food, nutrition and physical activity choices and behavior to maintain or improve health. Delivers nutrition counseling by developing a collaborative counselor-patient/client relationship to establish food, nutrition and physical activity priorities, goals, and individualized action plans that acknowledge and foster responsibility for self-care to treat an existing condition and promote health. Nutrition care outcomes are measured to effectively monitor and evaluate the nutrition care plan
- The registered dietitian will collaborate with and refer to other providers as clinically deemed necessary. Coordination of care involves facilitating services or interventions with other providers and departments. Examples of coordination of care include: prioritization of patient referrals, communication with patient access specialists, advising detail staff of changes in schedule, and referral to nutrition and dietetics practitioner with different expertise. Results are measured by providing requested services within budget and scope of practice standards.
- Evaluate and develop, as necessary, appropriate educational materials to use as aides in nutrition education, by interpreting, evaluating and utilizing current research related to nutrition care. Success is measured by availability of appropriate materials for use with patients. Provide medical staff/allied health providers and members with current information on diet therapy, food products, nutritional supplements and community nutrition programs through visual aids, written materials, in services and phone advice. Results are measured by satisfying providers and members with requested information.
- Minimum six (6) months as a clinical dietitian or successful completion of a dietetic internship.
- Bachelors degree in nutrition or dietetics.
- This job requires credentials from multiple states. Credentials from the primary work state are required at hire. Additional Credentials from the secondary work state(s) are required post hire.
- Specialist in Oncology Nutrition Certificate required at hire OR Specialist in Renal Nutrition Certificate required at hire OR Diabetes Educator Certificate required at hire OR Nutrition Support Clinician Certificate required at hire OR Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition Certificate required at hire
- Dietitian Certificate (Washington) within 6 months of hire
- Dietitian License (Oregon) within 6 months of hire
- Registered Dietitian required at hire from Commission on Dietetic Registration
- National Provider Identifier required at hire
- Thorough knowledge of clinical nutrition as related to disease across the lifespan.
- Understanding of and ability to apply Academy of Nutrition and Dietetic Standards of Practice and Standards of Professional Performance.
- Effective time management skills, effective communication skills, problem solving and mathematical skills.
- Able to apply the Nutrition Care Process to adequately perform nutrition assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and monitoring and evaluation using evidenced based guidelines and sound clinical judgement
- Able to successfully perform competencies on an annual basis as related to specialty certification
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a clinical dietitian in providing medical nutrition therapy.
- Working knowledge of behavioral modification.
- Basic knowledge of system resources available for nutrition care.
- Ability to use computer operations, including MS Office and computerized medical records, and telehealth applications
- Ability to teach nutrition classes and manage group interactions.
- Masters degree in nutrition or dietetics
