Job Summary:

Drives adherence to appropriate protocols when performing radiologic/fluoroscopic examinations through leading the evaluation of a patients clinical history, ensuring patients are received and doubled identified, and driving the use of standard strategies when identifying factors that will result in optimum imaging for each patient. Fosters an individualized and compassionate patient care atmosphere by guiding and overseeing efforts to educate patients on relevant procedures, monitoring appropriate protocols for patient privacy and safety, and managing, overseeing, and providing guidance on addressing patient questions/concerns. Prioritizes patient and employee safety by ensuring compliance with all internal and external safety-related regulations, policies, and procedures, while adhering to and leading others to identify the most accurate and appropriate safety measures and instructions. Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the department by ensuring the timely ordering and preparation of departmental supplies and disposables for use in assigned areas while recommending opportunities for advancing access, service quality, and efficiency.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manages designated work unit or team by translating business plans into tactical action items; oversees the completion of work assignments and identifies opportunities for improvement; ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Aligns team efforts; builds accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; determines and ensures processes and methodologies are implemented; resolves escalated issues as appropriate; sets standards and measures progress. Fosters the development of work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; obtains and distributes resources. Removes obstacles that impact performance; identifies and addresses improvement opportunities; guides performance and develops contingency plans accordingly; influences teams to execute in alignment with operational objectives.
  • Fosters an individualized and compassionate patient care atmosphere by: guiding and overseeing efforts to educate patients on relevant procedures, addressing patient questions/concerns of varying complexity, and modeling behavior for personnel to facilitate patient cooperation; monitoring the implementation and adherence to protocols for maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality; managing, overseeing, and providing guidance in the process of addressing and handling routine and escalated patient questions/concerns for service recovery; and prioritizing patient well-being and comfort throughout the duration of patient visits.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the department by: ensuring the timely ordering of departmental supplies and disposables for use in assigned areas, while effectively managing inventory levels and enforcing policies/protocols for supply utilization; managing cooperative efforts with labor partners to enhance quality, service, and safety while identifying cost-saving measures across multiple teams or departments; and recommending opportunities for advancing access, service quality, and efficiency through strategic innovation and day-to-day implementation.
  • Prioritizes patient and employee safety by: maintaining awareness of changes made to all internal and external safety-related regulations, policies, and procedures (e.g., National Patient Safety Goals, As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) Principles); adhering to and leading others to identify the most accurate and appropriate safety measures and instructions provided to patients, family members, and hospital staff as required; managing the implementation and enforcement of rules, regulations, and standards to improve quality of care, streamline operations, and mitigate risk across multiple teams or departments; and managing the resolution of escalated varyingly complex equipment malfunctions, accidents, and/or unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Drives adherence to appropriate protocols when performing radiologic/fluoroscopic examinations by: leading the evaluation of a patients clinical history with the exam to be performed, and identifying alternatives when contraindications are present; routinely monitoring and refining the appropriate criteria used to receive and double identify patients; implementing procedures for the routine evaluation of the accuracy of data entered and stored in the Radiology Information System (RIS); leveraging an in-depth understanding of the features and performance capabilities of the general radiology, fluoroscopy, and portable imaging systems; driving the use of standard strategies when selecting the technical factors that will result in optimum imaging for each patient; resolving escalated issues preventing the successful transmission of images to the Diagnostic Imaging Picture Archive and Communication System (PACS) for Radiologist interpretation; and identifying opportunities for improving the efficiency of patient processing and transportation before, during, and after the procedure.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
  • Associates degree in Anatomy, Physiology, Biology, radiological science, Healthcare Administration, or a directly related field AND minimum four (4) year of experience in radiologic technology or a directly related field OR Minimum five (5) years of experience in radiologic technology or a directly related field.
