Supervisor, Quality and Safety Improvement (PMG)
Supervises a team to provide a broad range of administrative, facilitation, and technical support functions in the area of Quality and Safety Improvement to support Quality and Safety programs and initiatives. Guides a team in the development, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Quality and Safety programs and initiatives. Supervises a team to develop and monitor performance indicators and metrics, collaborates with appropriate departments to collect, analyze, and trend data from multiple reporting systems and sources to identify opportunities to improve quality and safety and maintain the KP safety culture. Develops and coordinates across workgroups to receive approval for improvement plans to address priority issues. Supervises a team to ensure teams alignment with organizations compliance across professional standards, laws and regulations, and internal requirements related to quality and safety.
- Recommends developmental opportunities for others; builds collaborative, cross-functional relationships. Solicits and acts on performance feedback; provides team members with feedback; and mentors and coaches to drive performance improvement. Pursues professional growth; provides training and development to talent for growth opportunities; supports execution of performance management guidelines and expectations. Implements, adapts, and stays up to date with organizational change, challenges, feedback, best practices and processes. Fosters open dialogue, supports, mentors, engages, and motivates team members on collaboration. Delegates tasks and decisions as appropriate; provides appropriate support, guidance and scope.
- Supervises and coordinates daily activities of designated work team or unit by monitoring the execution and completion of tactical action items and work assignments; ensures all policies and procedures are followed. Aligns team efforts and standards, and measures progress in achieving results; determines and carries out processes and methodologies; resolves escalated issues as appropriate. Develops work plans to meet business priorities and deadlines; coordinates, obtains and distributes resources. Removes obstacles that impact performance; identifies and recommends improvement opportunities; influences teams to execute in alignment with operational objectives.
- Leads data extraction, analyses, and presentations to support quality improvement efforts by: supervising the completion of statistical analysis for quality improvement evaluations and special projects; integrating data from multiple reporting systems to develop and maintain a variety of statistical reports (e.g., including charts, graphs) and narrative summaries of improvements that enable care providers to see variations in practice patterns; presenting quality improvement metric reports to demonstrate improvements and effectiveness of quality improvement programs to department and program managers; and evaluating escalated trends, potential errors, and other analysis and reporting findings to the manager.
- Manages quality improvement performance metrics development, collection, and utilization by: initiating the development of performance metrics, standards, and methods to establish improvement success; collaborating with multiple stakeholders, often with competing/conflicting objectives, to ensure development of cohesive and reachable metrics are practical and approved for departments; and empowering team members to deliver measurable results and alignment with strategic objectives by integrating metric collection into workflows and projects with sound methodology.
- Facilitates the development of quality improvement initiatives by: implementing methods and tools to develop stakeholders capabilities for process improvements; monitoring the use of data-driven improvement principles, tools, and problem-solving methods, including Lean/Six-Sigma concepts and techniques using quality improvement metrics; and coordinating the approval for updated milestones, detailed workplans, and documentation practices in order to create a clear, logical, and realistic plan.
- Serves as the lead subject matter expert for quality improvement processes and regulations within assigned areas, teams, and departments by: applying knowledge of current internal policies, external regulations, and legislation; serving on projects to draw guidelines on the enforcement, development of policies or procedures of regulations and auditing processes; leveraging collaborative, results oriented partnerships to ensure compliance with regulations and improve patient safety, maintain the KP safety culture, reporting accuracy, and health outcomes; empowering team members to provide educational programs to raise awareness for regulation requirement, internal concerns, and system/database usage; and resolving escalated issues, weighing practical considerations and coordinating with the appropriate stakeholders for resolution.
- Delivers stakeholder development and quality performance review efforts by: leading utilization and performance reviews utilizing multidisciplinary criteria and guidelines and taking a systematic approach to quality improvement; identifying performance areas of improvement for stakeholders and providing feedback and coaching as needed; presenting program-level performance review reports to department managers; and delivering and developing training and educational programs related to process improvement for quality improvement programs for stakeholders at the department level.

- Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field AND minimum four (4) years of experience in heath care quality assurance/improvement or a directly related field OR Minimum seven (7) years of experience in heath care quality assurance/improvement or a directly related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience with databases and spreadsheets or continuous quality improvement (CQI) tools.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in clinical setting, health care administration, or a directly related field.
- Professional in Healthcare Risk Management Certificate within 24 months of hire OR Professional Healthcare Quality Certificate within 24 months of hire OR Professional in Patient Safety Certificate within 24 months of hire
- Health care clinical license (e.g., Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Pharmacist (RPh), Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, Social Worker) in state where care if provided.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
