KP Medical Foundation supports care delivery across Colorado, Washington, and Nevada and plays a critical role in strategic growth and innovation. Reporting directly to the KPMF CMIO, the Principal Clinical Informatics Lead serves as the CMIO-s deputy and the central informatics partner for the KPMF.

This senior individual contributor role drives the design and implementation of shared informatics services across multiple regions, leads strategic projects, and builds programs that advance care delivery and technology adoption. The position represents informatics priorities in executive-level discussions with IT and operational leadership, ensuring alignment between clinical needs and enterprise strategy.

Job Summary:

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is also responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining efficient clinical and administrative information systems and technology; liaising between clinical areas, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and strategies; collaborating with stakeholders to identify, evaluate, select, and implement clinical and administrative information systems and technologies; developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and standards related to clinical information systems; developing and delivering training and education initiatives for clinical staff to optimize system usage and ensure compliance; leading incident management, issue resolution, and patient safety follow-up related to clinical and administrative systems and technology; leading audits and reviews to ensure project goals are met and system optimization is achieved; generating reports and leads communicating project progress, outcomes, and recommendations effectively to stakeholders; collaborating with interdisciplinary teams in integrating clinical documentation and administrative systems and associated technology use effectively within system parameters; developing direction for clinical computer systems and data management.

  • Facilitates training and education by: providing consultation, designing, and delivering advanced training sessions, seminars, and workshops for staff and practitioners; mentoring and coaching staff on complex policies, procedures, protocols, educational programs, and innovative best practices; evaluating training effectiveness and continuously refining educational strategies to meet evolving needs and ensure alignment with policies, procedures, and protocols; and collaborating with peers on continuously assessing learning needs and leveraging several teaching modalities to drive a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in nursing informatics.

  • Minimum three (3) years of leadership experience in nursing and or healthcare related field with or without direct reports.

  • Bachelors degree in nursing or related field AND minimum eight (8) years of experience in direct patient care or a directly related field.


  • Registered Nurse License (Colorado) required at hire

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Informatics certification from American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
  • Certification with a clinical Epic module or proficiency with an application sub-component.
