Job Summary:

Under immediate supervision, operates & balances cash register & replenishes food & non-food items as required.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Upholds Kaiser Permanents Policies & Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities & applicable state, federal & local laws
- Operates cash register, accepts cash for food following established pricing guidelines & charges for catering, on-call physicians, volunteers & Food & Nutrition Services (FANS) employee meals
- Replenishes food & non-food supplies in cafeteria
- Communicates verbally w/ members, visitors & staff
- Cleans & decontaminates assigned work areas, soaks utensils, washes & rinses, takes care of disposal
- May train & orient new staff
- Adheres to departmental policies & procedures in the performance of all job duties & functions
- Demonstrates an understanding of the principles of customer service in interactions w/ customers & co-workers
- Establishes & maintains courteous cooperative relations when interacting w/ the public, patients & other personnel
- May perform other duties as required
Basic Qualifications:

Experience

• Demonstrated ability to read, write & follow written & oral instructions in English required
• Must be able to count cash & make correct change
• Mathematical knowledge including adding, subtracting, multiplying & division
• Requires sitting or standing for long periods of time

Preferred Qualifications:


  • • Two (2) years in a food service facility (hospital, school cafeteria, nursing home, or restaurant) and/or six (6) months cashiering experience preferred

  • Must be available alternating weekends

  • Working hours may vary between department's hours of operation. 6:00am through 9:00pm.

  • This is an on-call position, days and hours may vary
