Multilith Technician
Under indirect supervision, performs variety of duties pertaining to training, planning, coordination, and scheduling of work for assigned subordinates; performs variety of duties pertaining to preparation, reproduction, cutting, assembly, and padding of single or multi-colored copies of brochures, bulletins, typewritten materials, drawings, graphs, business forms, and related materials.
- Plans, coordinates, and schedules work of assigned subordinates; trains assigned subordinates.
- Revises or adjusts layouts; prepares paste-ups; produces or reproduces materials (e.g. multicolored brochures and pamphlets).
- Completes job orders from oral or written instructions or samples; reviews job order to determine press operating time, quantity to be printed and stock specifications; selects paper stock according to color, size, thickness and quantity specified; operates plate burner and related equipment; prepares negatives; strips, opaques, and transfers negatives to printing plates; operates copy camera; prepares negatives for offset plates and printing plates; prepares and operates offset-duplicating machine; ensures proper quantities and quality of printed material; operates auxiliary machines (e.g., folding machine, stapler, inserting machine, paper punching, cutting and perforating machines).
- Cleans and files master copies or plates.
- Reproduces printed hospital forms designed as stock items upon notification that minimum operating level has been reached.
- Requisitions print shop materials in advance; ensures adequate inventory.
- Maintains safety and orderliness of print shop.
- Demonstrates knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide culturally sensitive care and/or service.
- Performs other duties and accepts responsibility as assigned.
- Six (6) months multilith press, print shop equipment, or related experience.
- High school diploma; or equivalent combination of education (lesser) & experience may be considered in lieu of requirements.

- Knowledge of advanced offset printing and related operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in adaptability, creativity/innovation, decision making, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, teamwork, and written communication.
- Talking to co-workers, customers, outside vendors, and on the telephone.
- Reading, writing, speaking, understanding English.
- Training/giving and receiving instructions.
- Mathematical ability, attention to detail (e.g. organization, prioritization, proofing), concentration, and alertness.
- Multi-color processing and two-color press experience.
- Associates degree in graphic arts.
