The Medicare Sales Agent plays a crucial role in educating Medicare-eligible individuals about the various health plan options available. They are responsible for enrolling new individuals into Kaiser in a compliant, ethical, and customer-centered manner. This role includes ownership of a defined territory, requiring the agent to foster strong relationships with beneficiaries, providers, and community partners. This is essential to drive sustainable enrollment growth and retention for the West Los Angeles Service Area. In this role, the agent serves as a trusted advisor, guiding seniors and their families through complex healthcare decisions with clarity, patience, and cultural competence.    Bilingual Spanish required.


Job Summary:

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position is also responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of competitive sales strategy and retention activities for Medicare markets, with detailed guidance; providing a positive experience to customers with Medicare following detailed instructions; supporting collaboration within teams to support customer needs for Medicare markets; and executing sales for Medicare markets with detailed guidance from a supervisor; and meeting routine goals for sales and retention of Medicare markets.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensures a high level of customer service is provided by: helping to identify appropriate solutions based on lead/prospect/customer needs in fulfillment of performance and service quality goals, as well as the KP mission, with detailed instructions; exhibiting basic knowledge about various health plans and benefits to leads/prospects/customers and brokers/consultants to convey KPs unique value proposition; and helping to resolve standard lead/prospect/customer questions or issues in a timely manner with detailed guidance.
  • Serves as an advocate for process improvement by: identifying solutions for overcoming obstacles to sales initiative progress and ensuring objectives are met on time and/or within budget with detailed guidance; acting as a sales subject matter expert by participating in work groups, as selected, to meet department objectives, and identify new and improve existing process-related initiatives, systems, and practices with detailed instructions; applying routine methods/processes for the continuous improvement of tools, technology, and processes to optimize effectiveness; utilizing basic knowledge of Federal and State laws, regulations, contracts and rulings and escalating issues or risks to compliance; utilizing basic knowledge to track performance trends and articulate the performance update consistent with the strategy, along with story behind what is occurring, with detailed guidance; and contributing to group installation and/or member enrollment processing to ensure that all critical milestones are met.
  • Generates prospective sales by: helping to organize open enrollment events, and preparing material for formal presentations to prospective customers with detailed guidance; utilizing routine protocols to build relationships with key influencers, brokers, consultants, decision makers, and/or community groups to support new business opportunities and prospective customers; exhibiting basic knowledge on prospecting, sourcing, and developing and maximizing referral networks to build own book of business; collecting and/or submitting materials/forms for incoming business opportunities with detailed instructions; using routine protocols to work with key influencers, brokers, consultants, decision-makers, and/or community groups and successfully win new leads/prospects/customers by conveying the value of enrollment, with detailed guidance; and completing tasks as assigned to maintain and use new applicable and relevant resources such as the sales database, reports, media, and industry intelligence, on sales prospects with detailed guidance, and providing updates to the team.
  • Contributes to strategic development by: developing strategy to meet annual sales targets, goals, and initiatives, with detailed instructions; helping to gather data for sales status reports including sales activity, follow-up, closings, and target achievement; utilizing research and basic knowledge of health care marketplace to articulate internal sales strategies and drive external sales with detailed guidance; gathering, analyzing, and applying data on competitor, customer, and industry trends related to sales strategy with detailed guidance from a supervisor; assisting team members in using sales performance data to maximize performance and develop insights and basic sales strategies to accomplish sales plans; and collaborating with team members on optimal offering conditions and/or market segmentation (e.g., benefits, pricing) to drive internal negotiations and sales strategy, with detailed guidance.

Additional Requirements:

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) Level I required.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent OR minimum one (1) year of experience working in a corporate or business office environment, which can include relevant internship experience.

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One (1) year of experience in project management.
  • One (1) year of experience in health care or another heavily regulated industry (e.g., Banking).
