This internship role is scheduled to be flexible. Please be prepared to spend part of your time working remotely and part of your time working from a Kaiser Permanente regional office. Finalists MUST reside in one of the following states to be eligible for employment with Kaiser Permanente: CA, OR, WA, HI, CO, GA, MD, VA, CT, DC, or IL.
Department Details:
Within Kaiser Permanente-s Strategic Customer Engagement (SCE) organization, the Market Messaging & Engagement (MME) team plays a foundational role in shaping how the company communicates value to employer clients, brokers, and consultants. As an intersection point between business strategy, clinical expertise, and customer-facing operations, the team-s mission is to craft compelling, market-driven messaging that resonates with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
Message Development & Strategy
The MME team designs and refines value propositions for SCE-s sales and account management teams, delivering differentiated messaging around workforce health offerings, clinical outcomes, total cost of care, and ease of doing business.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Acting as strategic translators, they work with clinical leaders, data analytics, digital, and marketing partners to transform complex medical insights and performance metrics into clear, market-relevant narratives.
Program & Content Leadership
Team members create and manage content for thought leadership events-both internally (for sales enablement) and externally (with employer customers and channel partners). They also coach speakers and ensure messaging is engaging, consistent, and actionable.
Customer Insights & Market Focus
They stay ahead of employer priorities-such as health equity programs, occupational health, on-site clinics, and workforce well-being-then integrate that intelligence into strategic messaging frameworks.
Stakeholder Triage & Support
The MME team also serves as a hub to triage complex customer requests, directing them to appropriate internal resources while ensuring a smooth, client-focused escalation process.
Internship Projects:
The candidate will provide project management, operational support, data, and analytical support across the market messaging PODs, platforms and support product operations for the product portfolio.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Serving as a liaison/triage point of contact for the MME projects across Chronic conditions, pharmacy, and innovation portfolios.
Providing project management support for special initiatives
Helping to identify consistent success metrics across PODs and updating department dashboard data and analytics
Serving as a liaison to our National Marketing partners
Developing a consistent approach across work teams for updating and tagging Infosource and Showpad to maximize search results for market-facing teams
Target Majors:
Healthcare Administration; Public Health; Marketing
Target Skillset:
Project management, Communication and presentation skills, detailed oriented, familiarity with health insurance, ability to engage stakeholders, critical thinking, and market research.

- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- 3.0 GPA or above
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
